JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH to Bring Classic Children's Tale to Raleigh Little Theatre

By:
Roald Dahl's "James and the Giant Peach" is the final production in Raleigh Little Theatre's Family Series for 2017/18. This version of the classic children's book is adapted for the stage by Richard R. George and is directed by Kathleen Rudolph, RLT's Associate Director of Education.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion, which results in a tremendous peach. The peach launches James on a journey of enormous proportions. He finds himself among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, and he embarks on a dangerous voyage. Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family.

Michael McKenna, who has previously appeared at RLT in "The Velveteen Rabbit," "A Year With Frog and Toad" and "Miss Nelson is Missing!" plays the role of James. Michael is in the 10th grade at Voyager Academy.

"Sharing the stage with a bunch of "pests" has been a great experience. Our journey together is a roller-coaster in itself. Believe me when I say you don't want to miss this magical show. It'll leave you peach-less," said McKenna.

Support for "James and the Giant Peach" is provided by The Produce Box. The production runs April 21 - 30 in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre. Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919)-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.
