Burning Coal Theatre Co. to Offer Playwriting Class with Jonathan Fitts, Begin. 9/16

Learn the craft playwriting in this exciting six-week class led by Jonathan Fitts (NYU/MFA in Dramatic Writing) held from 6:30 to 9:30pm on Mondays from September 16th through October 21st at Burning Coal Theatre Company, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Participants will learn how to build a play from the ground up by learning concepts of structure, character, plot, dialogue, and what tools are available to the modern dramatist in the telling of stories. No playwriting experience is necessary. The cost of the class is $155 for six sessions, payable on or prior to the first day of class. Jonathan Fitts recently earned his MFA in Dramatic Writing at New York University where he was awarded a departmental honor for outstanding achievement in writing for the stage. Mr. Fitts is a published playwright, winner of the Kennedy Center's John Cauble Outstanding Short Play Award, winner of the David L. Shelton Full-Length Play Award, and he has been both a finalist and semi-finalist for the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. He has taught playwriting, acting, directing, script analysis, and theatre history. He is Burning Coal Theatre Company's Director of Education.
