Prescott Fine Arts Association Presents AMERICAN SONGS, 6/18 & 6/20

Prescott Fine Arts Association's SATURDAY NIGHT ON THE TOWN series presents, AMERICAN SONGS Friday, June 18 at 7:30pm and Sunday, June 20 at 2pm. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased in advance by calling the PFAA box office, 928-445-3286 or by visiting the PFAA Box Office at 208 N. Marina St. in Prescott. Office hours are 10-3 Monday through Saturday.

AMERICAN SONGS is performed by Earl and Alexis Hazell; an operatically trained and professional theater married couple from Phoenix. The program will focus on American music including: Copland's "American Songs", African-American Spirituals, Musical Theatre favorites from Kern, Gershwin, and other well-known composers of the Great American Songbook's golden era. Tregoney Shepherd, Broadway soprano, current ASU graduate student in the Musical Theatre program is the Hazell's guest performer. Kent Trostel will be their accompanist. The Hazells have been performing internationally for several years. They have also performed, and are contracted to perform, with both Arizona and Phoenix Opera companies. Mr. Hazell was Zuniga and Ms. Hazell performed the title role in Phoenix Opera's recent production of CARMEN. Mr. Hazell will sing Sarastro in their upcoming production of THE MAGIC FLUTE.

Additional credits include: Arizona Opera, Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra (in Tucson and Saddlebrooke), ASU and the Phoenix Art Museum, Valley Presbyterian Church of Paradise Valley, the Grammy-award winning Phoenix Bach Choir, Chandler-Gilbert Community College and benefits for the Payson Arts Institute. The Hazels have been asked to and plan to return to perform with many of these companies.

As if their schedules aren't busy enough, they've started their own arts Production Company that will, among other things, produce performances of their Recital Series throughout Arizona. The innovative company and Recital Series which they will bring to the whole state are already causing a buzz within the Arizona Arts community. Prescott residents should take note and pride that both the Hazell's Recital Series and their Company will make their debut at the Prescott Fine Arts Association with AMERICAN SONGS.
