Winner of 5 Tony Awards including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone, is a Jazz Age parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. This uproarious show-within-a-show concerns a middle-aged, asocial musical theatre superfan; as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone, the show comes to life onstage in his shabby high rise apartment. Lovers on the eve of their wedding, desperate bumbling friends, not-so-bright characters, imposters, and more performs one toe-tapping musical number after another.
