Second Stage Theatre's current season continues with a new production of Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, directed by Kate Whoriskey and starring Norbert Leo Butz and Elizabeth Reaser. The show opens tonight, and you can get a first look with production highlights below!

Immediately following the 8:00 PM performance of Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, the show's cast helped a fan surprise her longtime girlfriend with a marriage proposal, marking the show's first same-sex engagement - view a video of the surprise below!

The Off Broadway production of Standing On Ceremony kicked off its open-ended run on November 7, and featured an introduction from EVan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry. Conceived by Brian Shnipper and directed by Stuart Ross, Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. Joan Stein and Richard Frankel, are presenting Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, featuring Tony Award-nominee and Theatre World Award winner Craig Bierko (The Music Man), Daytime Emmy nominee and frequent 'Live with Regis and Kelly' co-host Mark Consuelos, Emmy Award-nominee Polly Draper ('thirtysomething') and Tony Award-winner Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) Previews on Monday, November 7 with an official opening night set for Sunday, November 13 at the Minetta Lane Theatre. Today, the company met the press and Broadway Beat was on hand to capture the performance preview and interview the show's stars!

The Hollywood Bowl's production of HAIRSPRAY reunites original Broadway stars Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Both Fierstein and Winokur, playing mother Edna Turnblad and daughter Tracy Turnblad, were awarded Tony Awards for best leading actor in a musical and best leading actress in a musical respectively for their appearances in HAIRSPRAY on Broadway. This is the first time that they have performed these roles together in Los Angeles; this is also Fierstein's Hollywood Bowl debut.
