Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater Approved For A Grant For NY Voices

Rocco Landesman, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, announced that Joe's Pub at The Public Theater has been approved for a grant to support New York Voices at Joe's Pub, a series celebrating New York City's diversity in performance and culture, presenting collaborations between artists from sound and stage.

OSL to Perform Two Free 9/11 Commemoration Concerts, 9/10 & 9/11

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) will take part in two free performances presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. at 5 pm on September 10 and 11 in Nelson A. Rockefeller Park. This special presentation will feature performances by OSL with Paul Taylor Dance Company; the Limón Dance Company with Voices of Ascension; and additional artists to be announced. The program also will include a new work created by Jessica Lang. The event was made possible with the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts, The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, Con Edison and the LuEsther T. Mertz Charitable Trust.

Brett Ratner and Don Mischer to Produce 84th Academy Awards Telecast

Brett Ratner and Don Mischer will produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be Ratner's first involvement with the Oscar show; Mischer will for the second year in a row serve as a producer and as the telecast director.

Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce will appear with the Philadelphia Orchestra to narrate Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, in Saratoga Springs, NY, on July 29 at 8pm. In addition, the roster of events will include an evening with Grammy winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and a full screening of classic film Casablanca with a live orchestral performance of the film's score.
