Princeton Summer Theater's 2016 season second show opens on Thursday, June 30th with Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage. After a playground fight erupts between their two young sons, two sets of parents are brought together in a meeting to resolve the matter. While they play nice at first, they soon devolve into outlandish, bickering children themselves. The 2009 Tony Award-Winner for Best Play, Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage is an energetic and hilarious triumph, showing us what is underneath the polite facade of these upper class adults.

Playwright Ayad Akhtar's Pulitzer-Prize winning Disgraced is at the core a portrait of an American born Muslim Amir Kapoor (Hari Dhillon) and a treatise on Islamophobia, but it is first and foremost an entertainment, and as such, its big ideas take less priority. In structure and excitement somewhat like Donald Margulies' Dinner with Friends and Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage, the play is humorous on the surface, but underneath... like a time-bomb set to explode. It consistently builds and builds to an unexpected climax. Now onstage at the Mark Taper Forum through July 17, Disgraced is a real audience-grabber with a dynamite cast under the superb direction of Kimberly Senior.

?Princeton Summer Theater's 2016 season opens this Thursday, June 16th with Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins. Assassins is an explosive tale of the American Dream gone awry. A multiple Tony Award-winning musical, Assassins combines Sondheim's brilliant lyricism and rich music in a revue-style tale addressing our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means taken to obtain it. Clever, original, dark, and surprisingly funny, Assassins is perhaps Sondheim's most controversial musical.
