Barbara Cook's 6/2 Performance Of AN EVENING WITH BARBARA COOK Cancelled

Broadway legend Barbara Cook will return to the New York Philharmonic for a one-night-only performance Saturday, May 30, at 8:00 p.m., conducted by her acclaimed music director, Lee Musiker. Ms. Cook plans to bring to the Avery Fisher Hall stage songs she has never before performed with the New York Philharmonic, such as Stephen Sondheim's 'Send in the Clowns' from A Little Night Music, selections from Meredith Wilson?s The Music Man, and Sondheim?s ?No One Is Alone? from Into the Woods.

A San Francisco native who has taken New York by storm, an established New York Diva, two irresistible cabaret concerts, one unforgettable day and one beautiful venue. Such is the recipe that Bay Area Cabaret has created for the send-off of its most successful season to date. Bay Area Cabaret concludes its 5th season on Sunday, May 17 at 2pm with Judy Butterfield followed by a 5pm performance by Ann Hampton Callaway; both shows are at the Marines Memorial Club Commandants Room (609 Sutter Street@ Mason). Lincoln Center Launches 50th Anniversary Celebration At The Starr Theater 5/11

Today, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts officially launches a yearlong celebration of its 50th Anniversary with a commemorative ceremony in the Starr Theater at Alice Tully Hall. Hosted by renowned journalist and author Tom Brokaw, the program pays tribute to the many achievements and contributions of Lincoln Center, from the milestones of its past half century to the transformation of its campus.

On the morning of May 11, 2009, 50 years after that momentous occasion, Lincoln Center will begin a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary with a special ceremony in the newly-transformed Alice Tully Hall. New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman with alumni from The Perlman Music Program, Tony Award-winning opera star Paulo Szot, jazz icon Wynton Marsalis with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and The Juilliard Orchestra are among those scheduled to perform in a program that celebrates the past 50 years and looks to the next generation of Lincoln Center's artists and audiences. In the audience of this private event will be elected officials, performing artists, civic and community representatives, and leaders from all 12 Lincoln Center resident organizations.

Aaron A. Flagg Named Dean Of Hartt School, Begins 6/30

Aaron A. Flagg, who has been executive director of the Music Conservatory of Westchester since July 2005, has been named dean of The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. Flagg, who has a dynamic career in performances, music administration and music education, will assume his new role on June 30, said University of Hartford President Walter Harrison and Provost Lynn Pasquerella in a joint statement.
