As Valentine's Day approaches, people say they are in the mood for love, but are really in the mood for a One Night Stand! One Night Stand is a project in which 10-minute plays are written overnight and performed the very next day. Local actors, directors, playwrights, and stage managers are volunteering their time and talents to bring this project together. In this day and age of constant human brutality and tragedy, the story of TARZAN reminds us of what's really important, especially at the holidays, the unconditional love of true family, whether biological or chosen. And although we all 'look' different, under the skin we are just the same. White Plains Performing Arts Center Conservatory Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors, this weekend, November 13-15. A gleefully gruesome musical spoof of the 1960 Roger Corman Film, this monster musical is about a hapless florist shop worker, Seymour, who offers his tender love and care to a plant that feeds on human blood. This plant, Audrey II, named after Seymour's secret love, quickly becomes a fascinating attraction in neighborhood called Skid Row. The score, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman, (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) follows the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown.
