Mesa Arts Center today announced its 2014-2015 Performing Live Season, which begins with Lyle Lovett & His Large Band on July 24, and includes performances with Tony Bennett, MythBusters, Bill Cosby, Joshua Bell, Evil Dead the Musical, Molly Ringwald, and many more. The shows unveiled today are in addition to the six series packages announced on May 1, including Broadway on Center, Classical, Dance, Jazz, National Geographic Live, and Spoken World.

Second Plett Fringe Festival, Begins 26 June

The second Plett Fringe Festival starts on 26 June and there is something for everyone: from magic to music and comedy to dance. This year the festival is also introducing matinee family shows for the little ones. The festival is held to benefit the Kids of Kurland School Project, a charitable organization started by two dynamic ladies in the area, Ann Fermor and Janet Holding, who had a goal to 'focus on human resources on behalf of the parents, community and school governing body' of the school. Since 2001 The Kids of Kurland School Project has helped with raising funds for The Crags Primary school and currently employs two teachers, a special needs teacher and a part time social worker.

President Nancy J. Uscher has announced that Cornish College of the Arts will award honorary degrees at this year's commencement to ground-breaking American playwright Tony Kushner and to Deborah F. Rutter, president-elect of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Kushner is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Emmy Awards, and a recipient of the National Medal for Arts. One of the nation's leading arts administrators, Ms. Rutter assumes leadership of the Kennedy Center in September. Most recently she has served as president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and, prior to that, she was the executive director of the Seattle Symphony.

Tori Amos' THE LIGHT PRINCESS Musical Coming to Broadway? Cast Album in the Works for 2015

Tori Amos' new musical, The Light Princess, which concluded its run at The National Theatre last year, might be heading to Broadway, according to a recent interview with the muic legend. Amos revealed to Radio.com that she is currently working on the cast recording to the show, and that a Broadway run is 'the dream.' She told Radio.com: 'Of course, I have all the demos. They got orchestrated with meplaying all the parts, which was a bit freaky. But I really enjoyed playing the male roles. That was my favorite part: being the guys. But I really feel like you need to hear The Light Princess as a story, the characters coming alive, not my quirky versions. Once you know it, then you can hear the quirky Tori stuff.'
