Berkeley Rep Welcomes Mary Zimmerman, 11/12

Theatres are usually dark on Monday nights, but several times each year Berkeley Repertory Theatre makes them glow with Page to Stage, a series of talks that engage brilliant guests in sparkling conversation. Today, the Tony Award-winning theatre announced that noted theatre journalist Chad Jones will moderate a chat with Tony Award-winning director Mary Zimmerman at a free event on November 12. From Metamorphoses to The Arabian Nights, audiences have embraced Zimmerman's enchanting adaptations of epic tales. Now they can peek behind the scenes of The White Snake as it begins performances at Berkeley Rep.

On Wednesday night, Broadway greats gathered at Joe's Pub to sing selections from Kander and Ebb's Cabaret. Anne Hathaway, who will be appearing as Fantine in the movie musical Les Miserables, was joined by five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, Eddie Redmayne, Bryce Pinkham, Broadway legend and multi-award-winner Linda Lavin, and yet another great, Harvey Fierstein, all participated in this musical evening called, Perfectly Marvelous: the Songs of Cabaret. The multi-award-winning NoHo Arts Center Ensemble (NoHoAce) presents a world premiere play, ONE NOVEMBER YANKEE, written and directed by Joshua Ravetch and starring four-time Golden Globe nominee Harry Hamlin and two-time Emmy winner Loretta Swit. ONE NOVEMBER YANKEE will preview on Tuesday, November 13 at 8pm; Wednesday, November 14 at 8pm; Thursday, November 15 at 8pm and will open on Friday, November 16 at 8pm and will run for eight weeks through Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the NoHo Arts Center, 11136 Magnolia Blvd. (at Lankershim) in North Hollywood.

The American Film Institute's annual festival announced the line up for its Centerpiece Galas today. Featured in the top spots will be Ang Lee's Life Of Pi, Walter Salles' On The Road, DreamWorks Animation's Rise Of The Guardians and Jacques Audiard's Rust And Bone starring Marion Cotillard. Also included will be the world premiere of HITCHCOCK, starring Anthony Hopkins in the title role.
