Verb Ballets chose to highlight two young Black choreographers for its 'Celebrating Black History' recent program at the Breen Center before a near sold-out performance.
Verb Ballets, Northeast Ohio's premiere contemporary ballet company, has brought critically acclaimed performances to Northeast Ohio audiences for over 30 years. In celebration of Black History Month, the company will remount original works commissioned by Verb Ballets from nationally recognized African American choreographers.

BalletX, Philadelphia's Premier Contemporary Ballet, unveils its 2016-17 Season. Following a decade of world premiere work in Philadelphia, paired with consistent national touring, which most recently included residencies at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Vail International Dance Festival, and The Joyce Theater, BalletX has emerged as 'a place of choreographic innovation,' according to The New Yorker, and 'one of the country's primary producers of new ballet,' as stated in The Denver Post. The 2016-17 Season includes four series in Philadelphia, three at The Wilma Theater - Fall Series 2016 (Nov. 16-20), Winter Series 2017 (Feb. 10-19), Spring Series 2017 (Apr. 26-30) - and Summer Series 2017 (July 12-16) at the Prince Theater, while the Wilma undergoes renovations in July of 2017.
BalletX has announced Cayetano Soto as the company's 2016-17 Choreographic Fellowship Mentor and Tommie-Waheed Evans as the 2016-17 Fellow! Each year, BalletX selects a fellow from an intensely competitive field of applicants, as well as a mentor, for the company's Choreographic Fellowship Program. Generously supported by the Wyncote Foundation and currently in its second year, the program serves as an opportunity for emerging choreographers to set an original work on BalletX's ten dancers with guidance by a highly acclaimed mentor. Both mentor and fellow will create new works for BalletX, to be premiered in their forthcoming Spring Series, April 26-30, 2017.

Verb is honored to perform at Arts in August for their west side summer appearance. The program will push the envelope of classical dance in a way that each is appreciated by both new audience members and dance enthusiasts.
