The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the second time this season to decide the eligibility of 13 Broadway productions for the 2012 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet a total of four times throughout the 2011-2012 season to decide the eligibility for the 2012 Tony Awards.

The Old Globe's 2011 production of Tracy Letts' drama "August: Osage County" was the leading honoree at the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle's 10th annual Craig Noel Awards ceremony, held Monday at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, in La Jolla before an audience of more than 450.

Newsies, the new American musical, will move to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse earlier this fall.

The on stage premiere of NEWSIES opened this Sunday, September 25, at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. The musical is based on the 1899 true story of a courageous group of scrappy newsboys who become unlikely heroes when they rally forces to fight an unscrupulous newspaper tycoon. 'NEWSIES' features a book by Harvey Fierstein, lyrics by Jack Feldman and music by Alan Menken. Based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. If the squeals and cheers of Paper Mill's opening night audience is any indication, the brand new stage version of the 1992 Disney musical film Newsies (a financial flop that has gained a cult following through the years) should prove to be a popular hit among playgoers who enjoy hearing attractive young men belting pop anthems and watching them leap across the stage performing athletic spins and flips.  But underneath the flashy performances of its title ensemble, Newsies is a slow-moving, workmanlike musical that takes an interesting, historic episode in the American labor movement and presents it as the kind of spunky entertainment that takes formulaic aim at the heart without earning any emotional payback through well-crafted storytelling.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that due to popular demand, The Old Globe's production of Jane Austen's Emma - A Musical Romantic Comedy will receive a week of additional performances. Created by Tony Award-nominated composer/lyricist Paul Gordon and directed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun, Jane Austen's Emma is currently in previews and was originally set to close on Feb. 27.
