Netflix Announces Two New Original Series from India- SELECTION DAY and AGAIN

Netflix Inc., the world's leading Internet television network, today announced two new Netflix original series from India; SELECTION DAY, based on the book by acclaimed author Aravind Adiga (WHITE TIGER); and AGAIN, a supernatural, female-led detective series set in New Delhi and written by Marisha Mukerjee (QUANTICO).

Dramahound Productions and Open Source Gallery Announce THE IKARUS PLAY

Dramahound Productions and Open Source Gallery are pleased to announce the world premiere of a one-act play by Anne Phelan, The Ikarus Play. It will be performed Sunday, August 6th at 6 and 7 pm, and Monday, August 7th at 7 and 8 pm at Open Source Gallery, 306 17th Street (near Sixth Avenue), Park Slope. Admission is free.

Join the Alliance and some of NYC's fiercest Asian American women comedians for Flipping the Script: Tiger Ladies Strike Back!   Equal parts screening event and panel discussion, this event features APA women in comedy reflecting, responding, and roasting film clips depicting Asian Americans in television shows and movies throughout history.  

Downtown Boys 'Cost Of Living' Streaming via NPR First Listen

Downtown Boys will release their third album, Cost of Living, August 11 on Sub Pop. Produced by Fugazi's Guy Picciotto, one of indie-rock's most mythological figures (he also produced Blonde Redhead, The Gossip, and others), Cost of Living shows a sense of maturity without compromising the band's righteous assault and captivating presence.

BRIC JazzFest 2017 Announces Full Programming

BRIC is pleased to announce full programming for the 2017 BRIC JazzFest, the third annual edition of the celebrated Brooklyn jazz festival, conceived and curated by Jack Walsh, Lia Crockett and Brice Rosenbloom. As it expands even more in its third year, the Festival continues to deliver on the promise Nate Chinen suggested in The New York Times when he wrote, "Given what's still a limited infrastructure for jazz in Brooklyn, BRIC JazzFest could be an important force for good." The Festival takes place over the course of a week (October 14-21), featuring film, dance, panel discussion and student workshops, and culminates with a three-day concert marathon, with performances taking place simultaneously in the various spaces comprising BRIC House (647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn).

Cast, Creatives Complete for KILL LOCAL World Premiere at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of Kill Local, by UC San Diego MFA playwriting graduate Mat Smart, directed by Jackson Gay (Kingdom City), running August 1 - 27 (press opening: Sunday, August 6) in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

Photo Flash: The Movement Theatre Company Celebrates Opening Weekend of AND SHE WOULD STAND LIKE THIS

The Movement Theatre Company, a Harlem-based nonprofit committed to showcasing emerging artists of color, opened their production of And She Would Stand Like This by Harrison David Rivers, directed by David Mendizabal, choreographed by Kia LaBeija on July 23rd. The show continues its run until August 6, 2017 at the new A.R.T./NY Theatres in the Mezzanine Theatre, located at 502 West 53rd Street and 10th Avenue.
