This collection of letters and manuscripts is one of the greatest collections ever amassed. In the first sale a letter by Vincent van Gogh sold for $336,000 and a Thomas Jefferson letter sold for $300,000, Part II promises to be even bigger.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for kids, and $1 for children ages 1-5 and includes brunch, a walking tour of the museum, and free museum admission at a later date. Doors open at 9:30am.

A team of researchers has uncovered what may be the earliest known portrait of Thomas Jefferson. If the picture proves to be Jefferson, it would give historians new insights into Jefferson's thinking and appearance soon after he became the American minister to France-less than ten years after he wrote the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
