Sufjan Stevens' 'Wallowa Lake Monster' Debuts The Greatest Gift Mixtape

Sufjan Stevens' Wallowa Lake Monster, taken from his forthcoming The Greatest Gift mixtape, premieres today listen here. The Greatest Gift, a collection of outtakes, remixes and demos from Stevens' lauded 2015 album Carrie & Lowell, is set for release on yellow cassette, translucent yellow vinyl and all digital formats on November 24.

National Sawdust+ presents ELEMENTS OF TIME + TASTE

National Sawdust+ presents Elements of Time + Taste: A night of inventive food, mixology, and music on Thursday, September 28, at 7:30pm. Two Williamsburg culinary and mixology notables,Patrick Connolly (Rider's James Beard award-winning chef/owner) and Allen Katz (the so-called cocktail world enigma of New York Distilling Company), will create a tantalizing experience for the palate, joining forces with a lineup of remarkable composer-musicians including singer Magos Herrera, multi-instrumentalist Yuka C. Honda (of Cibo Matto, or Food Madness, fame), and the evening's music director, pianist Oded Lev-Ari, who leads the ensemble. Together, they are dreaming up an evening that explores the four natural elements through curated pairings of music, libations, and delectable bites. Ranging from tango to electronic music to Mexican folk song, the musical program will include the world premiere of Chopping Music and a piece inspired by the humble juniper berry.

Irish Supergroup The Gloaming Returns with Haunting New Works at Chan Centre

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) announces the anticipated return of The Gloaming, Ireland's acclaimed folk supergroup, October 15 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. The revered Celtic-American ensemble will captivate audiences with evocative sean-nos (solo unaccompanied singing) and stirring, melancholic melodies, sharing their signature musical alchemy of ancient tradition and contemporary experimentation.

LOOK + LISTEN FESTIVAL Announces Dates and Programming for 16th Anniversary Season

Each year, the Look + Listen Festival presents the best of new music in New York City art spaces in an effort to expand the audience for both art forms. The New Yorker has said, "This series…builds on the spirit of the postwar New York School by placing vibrant concerts of new music into forward-looking art galleries." Time Out NY has described Look + Listen as "an ambitious grassroots music and visual art series that grows more impressive with each passing year." This year's festival takes place May 18-21, bringing performances to contemporary art venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan: Pratt Manhattan Gallery in Chelsea, BRIC House in Fort Greene, and The Studio Museum in Harlem.

Utah Symphony and Music Director Thierry Fischer Release New Album DAWN TO DUST Today

The recording, a hybrid SACD is out today, Friday, April 8, 2016, is the second in an ongoing series by Music Director Thierry Fischer and the Utah Symphony for Reference Recordings. It follows the release of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 'Titan,' recorded live by the Utah Symphony and Mr. Fischer, issued in September 2015. The Kennedy Center Sets Additional IRELAND 100 Programming

From May 17-June 5, the Kennedy Center presents IRELAND 100: Celebrating a Century of Irish Arts and Culture, an international festival spanning three weeks and featuring more than 50 performances with the participation of more than 500 artists in venues across the Center. The comprehensive schedule of events highlights Ireland's rich cultural legacy and its major footprint in the fields of theater, literature, music, and dance. Taking place in the living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the nation's most well-known Irish-American President and the first sitting President to visit Ireland, the festival is also part of a yearlong celebration at the Center marking the centennial of JFK's birth. Furthermore, IRELAND 100 is the centerpiece in the United States of the global commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising, a historic event that led to Ireland's independence.
