Playhouse on the Square Presents World Premiere of OTHER PEOPLE'S HAPPINESS

Playhouse on the Square presents the world premiere of Adam Seidel's beautiful new work, Other People's Happiness. On a weekend trip to the family cabin, Sara tells John that after 30 years of marriage, she is leaving him for a much younger man. Her decision leaves her entire family in chaos, causing the audience to ask the question, "When you give up your happiness for everyone else, what is your breaking point?" Other People's Happiness is a play about blind devotion, failed expectations, the redefining of family, and the enduring nature of love. Other People's Happiness is a winner of the 2015 NewWorks@TheWorks Playwriting competition.

New Theatre Arts Classes Offered at Gettysburg Community Theatre

Gettysburg Community Theatre, the non-profit 501c3 organization located in the original Elks Lodge building at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg, will offer a variety of theatre arts classes for children and adults this winter and spring beginning the week of January 9th.

Mark St. Germain's solo play about celebrity sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer received it's World Premiere at Barrington Stage Company in June 2012. The production was met with much success and went out to play at TheatreWorks Hartford before moving to New York. In October of 2013, Becoming Dr. Ruth received its Off-Broadway premiere at the Westside Theatre. Actress Debra Jo Rupp, who originated the role Off-Broadway, received both Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations for her portrayal of Dr. Ruth.

Folger Theatre continues its celebrated 25th anniversary season with As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.

Los Altos Stage Company Presents YELLOW FACE

Fresh off its production of the Obie Award-winning Circle Mirror Transformation, Los Altos Stage Company lines up another Obie recipient (2008 for playwriting) with David Henry Hwang's Yellow Face. Yellow Face opens January 26 and runs through February 19 at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.

Theatreworks Silicon Valley Presents CRIMES OF THE HEART

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with Beth Henley's brilliantly imaginative tale of relationships, Crimes of the Heart. Three hard-luck sisters reunite in their small, pitiless Mississippi hometown, each nursing her own grudge. In a hurricane of hilarity and hurt, Lenny is turning 30, Meg is fresh from rehab, and Babe is out on bail. The boundaries of sisterhood are put to the test as each sibling comes to terms with her dreams gone awry. The New York Timessaid Crimes of the Heart "overflows with infectious high spirits." This Pulitzer Prize and NY Drama Critics Circle Award-winning play will be directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Crimes of the Heart will have performances January 11 - February 5, 2017 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St, Mountain View. Darkly Comic Corporate Thriller IDEATION Comes to City Lights

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 32 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2017 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 18 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
