Transport Group Extends SEE ROCK CITY & OTHER DESTINATIONS Thru 8/14

Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and 2007 and 2010 OBIE Awards, has announced that its production of the New York premiere of See Rock City & Other Destinations, music by Brad Alexander; book and lyrics by Adam Mathias; directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, will extend one week through Saturday, August 14 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, 229 West 42nd Street.

New Theatre for a New Audience Season To Feature Abraham, Camp, Thompson

Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz announced Theatre for a New Audience will dedicate its 31st season to two literary giants. The season is three parts Shakespeare and one part Dostoevsky: an original adaptation of Dostoevsky's novella Notes from Underground, Shakespeare's late romance Cymbeline, the dark comedy The Merchant of Venice and the tragedy Macbeth.

2nd Annual California International Theatre Festival Runs 7/17-25

California International Theatre Festival 2010 season is presented by the City of Calabasas with Linda Purl as Festival Director, M. Edgar Rosenblum as Executive Director and Tammy Taylor as Festival Producer. The Festival will take place in several Calabasas locations and will include distinguished international productions.

Young Brooklynites Party to Build Theatre for a New Audience's Home At BAM 7/22

Brooklyn's Dreamers, a group of young professionals who host parties to raise awareness and funds for Theatre for a New Audience's new Hugh Hardy-designed home in the BAM Cultural District, will host its fourth Annual Summer Bash, a fundraising cocktail party, Thursday, July 22, at 6:00pm (to 9:00pm) at Deity Supper Club, 368 Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn.

Performances End 7/11 For LCT3's ON THE LEVEE

Previews began Monday, June 14, for the LCT3 world premiere production of ON THE LEVEE, a play with music, conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet, with play by Marcus Gardley, and music and lyrics by Todd Almond, at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project (229 West 42 Street). ON THE LEVEE closes July 11. LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. All tickets are $20.

RUINED Original Cast and Crew Reunites for Intiman Production, 7/9

Lynn Nottage's Ruined, a powerful portrayal of the triumph of the human spirit in a war-torn country, will be co-produced this season by Intiman Theatre (opening July 9, 2010) and the Geffen Playhouse (opening September 15, 2010), the only two theatres in the country to host original cast members and the design team of director Kate Whoriskey's acclaimed world-premiere production.

Redgrave & Jones Open DRIVING MISS DAISY at John Golden Theatre on Broadway Oct. 7, 2010

Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced today that Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will return to the New York stage this Fall to star opposite one another in the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy will begin performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that Amari Cheatom, Brian D. Coats, Chuck Cooper, Maria Couch, Harriett D. Foy, Dion Graham, April Matthis, Jacob Ming-Trent, Seth Numrich, Stephen Plunkett, Michael Siberry and Shelley Thomas will be featured in its upcoming LCT3 world premiere production of ON THE LEVEE, a play with music, conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet, with play by Marcus Gardley, and music and lyrics by Todd Almond.
