SOCIAL SECURITY Comes To Cape May Stage With Lynn & Ronald Cohen 7/22-8/29

Cape May Stage continues to build its artistic momentum as it presents Social Security, starring a strong ensemble of some of the most accomplished actors ever to grace its stage. Real-life couple Lynn & Ronald Cohen's natural chemistry creates comedic fireworks in this smart, fast-paced contemporary play. Mackie, Bartenieff, De Shields, Groff Set For Public Theater's THE BACCHAE 8/11-8/30

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting today for the Shakespeare in the Park production of Euripides' THE BACCHAE, directed by JoAnne Akalaitis with original music by Philip Glass and translated by Nicholas Rudall. Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) will play the lead role of Pentheus joining George Bartenieff as Cadmus; André De Shields as Teiresias; Jonathan Groff as Dionysus; Karen Kandel as Chorus Leader; Joan MacIntosh as Agave; Steven Rishard as Cowherd; and Rocco Sisto as Messenger.

Pan Asian Rep's IMELDA, A New Musical Plays At Julia Miles Theatre, Opens 9/30

Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director of Pan Asian Repertory Theatre announces its 33rd season with the East Coast premiere of IMELDA, A New Musical. La Cage aux Folles is a 1973 French farce by Jean Poiret centring on confusion that ensues when the son of a Saint Tropez night club owner and his gay lover brings his fiancée's ultra conservative parents for dinner.

THE BACCHAE will run August 11-August 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park with an official press opening on Monday, August 24 at 8 p.m. Bank of America returns as lead sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park 2009.

Playwrights Horizons & Vineyard Theatre Join to Develop New Musical 'THE BURNT PART BOYS'

THE BURNT PART BOYS -- a new musical by Mariana Elder (book), Nathan Tysen (lyrics) and Chris Miller (music), directed by Erica Schmidt ('Humor Abuse') -- will have an innovative production and development schedule on its way to an Off-Broadway premiere in the spring of 2010 when it will be presented as a co-production by Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) and the Vineyard Theatre (Artistic Director, Douglas Aibel; Executive Director, Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell) at Playwrights Horizons, it has been announced by both non-profit theaters.

10th Annual YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX Held 4/17-22 At Skirball, Open To Public

Three hundred of the best young dancers ages 9 to 19 from across America and around the globe will descend on New York City for a week this spring to compete for $250,000 in scholarships and coveted spots with leading dance companies worldwide at the 10th annual YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX, to be held from April 17 to 22, 2009 at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, at Washington Square South) and New York City Center (130 W. 56 St.) in Manhattan.
