Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, has announced the 26-member Broadway cast of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Newcomers to the cast include Gavin Creel, Caissie Levy and Sasha Allen, who join the rest of the tribe, who are reprising their roles from Central Park last summer. HAIR begins preview performances on Friday, March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC) with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

'FOLLY: The Grand Street Follies, 2009', inspired by the follies of the 20's -- but billed as a 'Vaudeville for the New Depression' -- will be an 'old school' vaudeville show featuring live acts: comedy, intriguing skits, unusual musical numbers, spectacle extravaganzas and more than a few surprises.
TheaterWorks presents acclaimed actor Annalee Jefferies in the Connecticut premiere of The Year of Magical Thinking, the stage adaptation of Joan Didion's bestselling memoir of the same name. In this Broadway hit, audiences journey back over the year when Didion abruptly lost her husband, Hartford native John Gregory Dunne, and their beloved daughter Quintana Roo. Applying her fiercely logical brain to a situation that defied logic, Didion's words lead us on a quiet exploration of that 'magical year' when grief came to call and hope was around the corner. The production, featuring area favorite Annalee Jefferies (Hartford Stage's A Streetcar Named Desire and 2003 Connecticut Critics Circle Award winner for The Night of the Iguana), is directed by TheaterWorks' artistic director, Steve Campo.

TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford presents the New England Premiere of Dead Man's Cell Phone, the latest comedy by one of America's hottest contemporary playwrights, Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House, Eurydice, 2006 winner of the MacArthur 'Genius Grant'). The production runs January 30 through March 15, 2009 (please note the change in previously announced dates). Written in Ruhl's signature juxtaposition of keenly observed realities and hilarious flights of fantasy, Dead Man's Cell Phone 'takes surprising twists and leaps' (The New York Times). TheaterWorks' production is directed by Rob Ruggiero.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced casting for its production of RAGTIME in the Eisenhower Theater April 18 - May 10, 2009. Based on a 1975 novel by E.L. Doctorow, the production features book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and will be directed and choreographed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The musical is part of the Kennedy Center's Broadway: The Third Generation, a series celebrating the current generation of Broadway musical composers. The official press night will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
