The Public Theater's MOBILE UNIT'S Hamlet officially opens at the The Public Theater's Shiva Theater tonight, September 22, for a run through Sunday, October 9. 

The Public Theater will begin previews for the MOBILE UNIT'S Hamlet on Monday, September 19.

Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this fall with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's HAMLET, directed by Patricia McGregor.

The world premiere of the award-winning new play The Great Divide by acclaimed new American playwright Alix Sobler runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 4 September 2016 (Press Night: Monday, 5 September 2016 at 7.30pm).

The European premiere of Rex Pickett's acclaimed comedy SIDEWAYS opens tonight at St James Theatre, directed by David Grindley, for a limited run until July 9. The cast features Daniel Weyman (Miles), Simon Harrison (Jack), Ellie Piercy (Maya), Beth Cordingly (Terra), Anne Kavanagh(Phyllis/Evelyn), Kirsten Hazel Smith (Rosie/Victoria) and Daniel Barry (Chris/Daryl).

A brand new production of Rex Pickett's critically acclaimed and much loved novel and play Sideways opens at the St James Theatre for its UK and European premiere, directed by David Grindley (Daytona, Journey's End, The American Plan). Sideways' limited run begins today, 26 May and runs until 9 July, with press night on 31 May.

Dame Maggie Smith visited the University of Oxford's Bodleian Libraries yesterday to open SHAKESPEARE'S DEAD, the Libraries' summer exhibition. The celebrated actress joined donors and special guests, including renowned playwright Alan Bennett and Lord Patten of Barnes, the Chancellor of the University of Oxford, at the Bodleian's newly-refurbished Weston Library for the official opening of the exhibition, which runs until 18 September. Paper Mill Playhouse has announced complete casting for Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's classic musical West Side Story, directed by Paper Mill Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee and Jerome Robbins' original choreography recreated by Alex Sanchez. West Side Story is based on a conception by Jerome Robbins and features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Ethan McSweeny directs a revival of his 2012-2013 STC production, which will run September 1-13 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).
