MASS MoCA and Jacob's Pillow to Present KEIGWIN + COMPANY, 4/11-12

Cultural partners Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA present KEIGWIN + COMPANY, April 11 at 8pm and April 12 at 3pm at the Hunter Center. A favorite among dance audiences and critics, KEIGWIN + COMPANY will bring a mixed program of high art and pure entertainment, featuring a variety of diverse contemporary works that embody the company's signature wit, broad musicality, and profound emotional capacity. Annual co-presentations by Jacob's Pillow and MASS MoCA are made possible by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance.

Auditorium Theatre, Ravinia Festival Co-Commission New Twyla Tharp Works

In a momentous co-commission, Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University and Ravinia Festival, will present two new works by world-renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp November 6 – 8, 2015. Celebrating 50 years of creating dance for both modern and ballet companies, television, Broadway and Hollywood, the program will be seen throughout North America during a 10-week anniversary tour to 15 cities, honoring Tharp's five decades of dance-making. The new works, each comprised of 12 dancers—many whom have worked with Tharp over the years—will have music by J.S. Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.

Here they come! A new royal partnership is being forged: Michele Wiles, one of ballet's most celebrated Swan Queens, and Jay Donn, the reigning king of Punchlines, a form of Brooklyn-based flex dancing. The result is 'Something Sampled,' one of three world premieres on the boards for BalletNext's season, 'Baroque'd,' at New York Live Arts, today, February 10 through February 14.

Martha Graham Dance Company Kicks Off 'Shape&Design' Season Today

The Martha Graham Dance Company's Shape&Design theme explores Graham's defining influence as an American modernist with programs that feature the sculptural and architectural aspects of choreography by Graham and others. The Company's two-week season at The Joyce Theater in New York City, today, February 10-22, 2015, will offer Graham classics, new commissions, and premieres by guest choreographers in three varied programs. The Company's expansive 2014-15 season also includes a twenty-city U.S. tour, and several projects related to Shape&Design, including partnerships with the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the international art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director, presents the U.S. debut of Le Centre National de Danse Contemporaine-Angers (CNDC) from March 10 – 15. For this highly anticipated debut, CNDC-Angers, under the artistic direction of former Merce Cunningham dancer and protégé Robert Swinston, will perform Event, a compilation of excerpts from pieces choreographed by Cunningham from 1965-1990. 10 Hairy Legs Coming to Crossroads Theatre, 3/29

Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its third consecutive appearance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. Continuing to showcase the company's expanded repertory that explores the range of the male dancer, the performance will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the stage with Artistic Director Randy James, New Jersey choreographer Cleo Mack and Company Member Kyle Marshall. Tickets are $25 for Premium Seating Center Section and $22.50 for Seniors, $20 Adult Side Seating and $15 for students and children.

See some of New York City and the country's most renowned dance companies on Monday, February 16 at 7:30pm at The Joyce Theater (175 8th Avenue), where the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation will present DESTINY RISING, an incredible evening of dance artistry to benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program (which to date has awarded $12.5 million in college scholarships to over 200 dancers all over the country). Featuring special performances from prominent professional dance companies from across the United States (plus outstanding NYC Dance Alliance alumni and NYC Dance Alliance faculty), some of the artists and companies taking part include Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, the Intermezzo Dance Company, and Keigwin + Company. There will also be over $50k in college scholarships awarded the night of on 2/16.

Ballet West and Lyon Opera Ballet to Receive Joyce Theater's Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance

The Joyce Theater Foundation announces the selection of Ballet West and Lyon Opera Ballet as recipients of The Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance, a $25,000 award established to support the commissioning of new works for large ballet companies, many of whom rarely perform in New York. The prize allows companies accustomed to performing large scale work to create new pieces for a smaller venue. In turn, the award provides audiences with the opportunity to experience these companies in The Joyce Theater's intimate setting. Previous recipients are Houston Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet.

Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company celebrate 30 years at the Joyce Theater, February 24 - March 1. Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company will usher in its 30th year with a company premiere, New York premiere, live music and revivals of classic works. The week-long run features two programs. Program A highlights include the powerful classic Grace and The Subtle One, danced to a suite composed and performed live by Jason Moran. Moran, score composer for the Oscar-nominated film “Selma” and Kennedy Center's Artistic Director for Jazz, will be joined by his band, The Bandwagon. Program B highlights include the NewYork premiere of Through Time and Culture, a solo by Brown, along with the company premiere of Why You Follow/Por Que Sigues.
