La Jolla Playhouse announces a fifth production for its 2013/14 season: the world premiere of The Tallest Tree, a new play with music written and performed by Daniel Beaty (Emergency, Through the Night), directed by Moises Kaufman (I Am My Own Wife, The Laramie Project). A co-production with Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Tallest Tree will run in the Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre October 9 - November 3, 2013. The piece is produced in association with Tectonic Theater Project.

Dead Writers Theatre Collective has announced the Chicago premiere of Adam Pasen's Tea with Edie and Fitz, directed by Jim Schneider, April 26 - June 9, at the Greenhouse Theater Complex, 2257 North Lincoln Ave. Tea with Edie and Fitz chronicles the tempestuous meeting of literary icons Edith Wharton (Judith Hoppe) and F. Works & Process at the Guggenheim has announced its spring 2013 season. Since 1984, the performing-arts series has championed new works and offered audiences unprecedented access to leading creators and performers. Each intimate, 80-minute performance uniquely combines artistic creation and stimulating conversation and takes place in the Guggenheim's Frank Lloyd Wright-designed, 285-seat Peter B. Lewis Theater, where new reserved seating is now offered. A reception for the audience and artists follows most programs. Stage Door Inc. will be performing this beautiful and moving piece and has partnered with the Matthew Shepard Foundation to collect donations during the run of the show. The Laramie Project opens on the 13th Anniversary of Matthew Shepard's tragic death, Friday, October 12, 2012 and runs, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm, through November 4, 2012.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre's artistic director Eric Rosen has cast Broadway musical veteran Wallace Smith as the Leading Player in the Rep's production of Pippin. Rosen will direct the musical, which runs tonight, September 14-October 7. Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark's Chase Brock will choreograph and Curtis Moore is musical director.
