Definition Theatre Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tyrone Phillips and Managing Director Neel McNeill, announces the first play of its 2017-2018 season, the Chicago premiere of An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Gloria, Appropriate), produced in association with Goodman Theatre. An Octoroon is directed by Goodman Theatre Resident Director Chuck Smith and runs July 21 - August 20, 2017 in the Richard Christiansen Theater at Victory Gardens Theater as part of Definition's tenure in the Victory Gardens Resident Theater Program.

Art, history, and humanity align in City Theatre's upcoming production of The Guard by Jessica Dickey. Directed by Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, the play will run March 11-April 2 on the Main Stage, continuing the 2016-17 season of new plays. This is the third time Ms. Dickey's work has been produced at City Theatre, following Charles Ives Take Me Home (2013) and The Amish Project (2011). The play features a cast of five tackling ten roles-including appearances by the legendary painter Rembrandt and the epic poet Homer-over three time periods. Tickets are on sale now.

The City of North Miami unveiled a new sculpture installation this past Saturday, March 4th, that was commissioned by the municipality to "Celebrate the legacy of Miami-Dade County's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer champions and the historic milestones of the LGBTQ community," said Scott Galvin, the Councilman for the City of North Miami who spearheaded this project.

The South Side company's 43rd season will kick off with a trio of adventurous Pittsburgh premieres, including The Old Man and The Old Moon by PigPen Theatre Company, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City by Halley Feiffer,and the world premiere of Citizens Market by Cori Thomas. Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that Joanna Gleason and Chris Sarandon are set to host the 2017 Gala Fundraiser celebrating the 10th anniversary of Vineyard Theatre's hit musical [title of show] with Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, and a toast to Broadway producer Kevin McCollum. Michael Berresse will direct the gala show. Larry Pressgrove will be the music director. The annual Gala Fundraiser will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017, beginning at 6:30pm, at Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue).
