American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced the lineup of the company's 44th subscription season today. Recently commended for its 'sophisticated artistry' (The New York Times) and its 'intellectual passion [and] guts' (Los Angeles Times), A.C.T. has put together an eclectic mix of plays with big theatrical visions and ideas, from reimagined classics to bold new plays.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has confirmed that MATILDA, A MUSICAL will begin performances this November at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. The show will run from November 9th through January 2011 under the direction of Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus, with book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

Colman Domingo - currently appearing in the cast of the world-premiere musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS at the Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) - received the 21st annual GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Broadway/Off-Broadway production for his solo play, 'A BOY AND HIS SOUL,' it was announced on Saturday, March 13. 'A BOY AND HIS SOUL,' written and performed by Mr. Domingo, had its world-premiere at the Vineyard Theatre in the fall of 2009.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2009-2010 season, an exploration of the theme of belief, with The Brother/Sister Plays: In the Red and Brown Water, The Brothers Size and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet by Tarell Alvin McCraney, directed by ensemble member Tina Landau from January 21 - May 23, 2010 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that heavy-hitting producers Fran and Barry Weissler have invested $400,000 into THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, and writes that 'If the reviews are strong, they'll move it to a small Broadway house, very possibly before this year's Tony cutoff date, should a theater become available.'
