Renowned violinist Jennifer Koh joins Gershon and the Los Angeles Master Chorale to perform the world premiere of Mugunghwa: Rose of Sharon by Mark Grey - named one of the Los Angeles Times '2008 Faces to Watch' - Sunday, March 6, 2011, 7 p.m., at Disney Hall. With text based on the extraordinary verses of Korean poet and engineer Namsoo Kim, who fled from a North Korean prison at the outbreak of the Korean War, the piece was commissioned by the Chorale and is the fourth piece to be premiered by the choir as part of its notable 'LA Is the World' initiative, which was launched in 2007. This installment begins phase two of the initiative, conceived by Gershon as a collaboration among composers, master musicians and the choir to expand the choral literature with works that mirror LA's vibrant multi-cultural fabric.

Opera San José will present Anna Karenina with a new scene added by the composer following the opera's 2007 world premiere at Florida Grand Opera. The Philadelphia Orchestra celebrates its 30-year musical partnership with Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit in the 2010-11 season. Highlights of Mr. Dutoit's nine subscription weeks with the Orchestra include the 2010-11 Opening Night with violinist Joshua Bell; the U.S. premiere of James MacMillan's Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the Orchestra, with Vadim Repin; the world premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff's Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Jeffrey Khaner; and Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and tenor Paul Groves. Mr. Dutoit also leads the Orchestra in three performances at New York's Carnegie Hall and a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Following a developmental workshop at the Vineyard in the fall of 2009 and a series of concert readings this summer by New York Stage and Film Company and the Powerhouse Program at Vassar, the musical ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER - with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Burton Lane, a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, and reconceived and directed by Michael Mayer - will receive a full production at the Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) with performances beginning January 2011, it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Aibel.
