The 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit took place on July 27, 2013 at the The Watermill Center in Water Mill, NY. Beginning at 6pm, the evening included cocktails provided by Bacardi USA, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing, and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury. The show has been said to be aimed towards Broadway since it first opened, with American producers on board from day one. Today, Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post that 'Tune, now 74, is getting back in the game. At the behest of his good friend Jimmy Nederlander, a theater legend in his own right, Tune's in London inspecting a new show called 'Top Hat.'

TOP HAT is currently playing at the Aldwych Theatre, and will close on October 26 to make room for Andrew Lloyd Webber's new STEPHEN WARD Musical, which is set to open in November 2013. Thare are plans for a UK tour in 2014-15.

The 2013 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence were held Monday night, June 3rd, at The Players Club. Honorees at the evening's ceremony included the Distinguished Service to the Theatre Award given, posthumously, to Helen Guditis and The Theatre Arts Education Award presented to Emerson College. The evening also included a special tribute to the Palace Theater in honor of its 100th anniversary. The Palace Tribute was a trip back in time to the vaudeville era. The Drama League opened it doors at their new space on May 23rd with a ribbon cutting hosted by Judith Light. The focal point of The Drama League Theater Center is the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Studio Lab, a brand-new laboratory/development space for theater artists to create and hone work for future productions.

American Ballet Theatre celebrated the opening of the 2013 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House with a one-time-only opening night gala performance on Monday, May 13th. Mrs. Michelle Obama, Caroline Kennedy and Blaine Trump served as Honorary Chairs of this special performance featuring all of ABT's Principal Dancers. The annual National Meningitis Association (NMA) Give Kids a Shot Gala was once again an emotion filled evening but a stellar success in aiding the fight against meningitis, a potentially vaccine preventable disease. Held in the elegant ballrooms of the historic New York Athletic Club with phenomenal views of Central Park as a backdrop, hundreds of New York's movers and shakers turned out to support the cause and also to congratulate meningitis survivor & Para Olympic Gold Medalist Nick Springer, an Honorary Chair along with Ambassador & Mrs. John L. They are joined by Olivier award nominee Alex Gaumond as Alberto Beddini and Clive Hayward as Horace Hardwick, with Vivien Parry (Madge) and Stephen Boswell (Bates) continuing in the production. Tom Chambers and Charlotte Gooch take the lead roles of Jerry Travers and Dale Tremont in Top Hat which is currently playing at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End. The show, directed by Matthew White, is booking until 28 September 2013.

A Christmas Story, The Musical arrives on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre just in time for the 2012 holiday season. Based on the 1983 movie perennial, the musical plays and eight-week limited engagement through December 30. The show opened on November 19th and BroadwayWorld.com was there! The 19th annual "Living Landmarks" gala was a star-studded event attracting some 450 people to The Plaza ballroom on November 8th. Each year, The New York Landmarks Conservancy recognizes New Yorkers who have made outstanding contributions to the City and honors them as Living Landmarks.
