On Monday, April 28, 2014, The New York Pops marks its 31st birthday with a grand gala evening celebrating the work of composer, lyricist, and arranger Marc Shaiman and director, lyricist, and writer Scott Wittman, as well as the leadership and mentorship work of corporate honoree Paul J. Massey, Jr., CEO and Founding Partner of Massey Knakal Realty Services. Gala Co-Chairs include Neil Heilberg, Todd Korren, William C. Montana, and James A. Read. Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event are stars Matthew Broderick, Debra Messing, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Before there was law school, before there was Broadway, there was a dream: to be a Rock Star, without the rehab. Currently appearing in the Broadway company of If/Then, nationally renowned concert soloist and proud Broadway veteran, Joe Cassidy brings this musky goblet of rock to the hallowed halls of 54 Below backed by a band of worldclass musicians: Drew X Coles, Alec Berlin, Mike Rosengarten, Tony Steele, and Damien Bassman, and featuring guest soloists: Tamika Sonja Lawrence (If/Then, Matilda, Book Of Mormon) and David Josefsberg (Motown, Wedding Singer, Les Miserables). He'll perform the songs of some of his early influences and idols such as Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, Stevie Wonder, U2, and many more!

Yesterday, April 4, 2014, The New York Pops continued its 31st season at Carnegie Hall with Lights, Camera, Action: A Night in Hollywood, featuring the orchestra and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, to travel through Hollywood history with the music that has transformed film's most iconic scenes into unforgettable moments of passion, fear, love, and hope for generations. The program included a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, a tribute to the movie music of Marvin Hamlisch, selections from Ben-Hur by Miklos Rozsa, and selections from The Mission by Ennio Morricone. Kander & Ebb's THE ACT, featuring Anna Chlumsky, Tony winners Randy Graff and Cady Huffman, and more, will play 54 Below in a concert version, continuing tonight April 4 (8 and 11 p.m.). The songs of the show-which originally played Broadway in 1977 with Liza Minnelli as the lead-take place in a nightclub, so it's only fitting this one-night-only event will take place in the swankiest nightclub in town!
