2010 has been quite the year for lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim, who celebrated his 80th Birthday, saw two of his shows on Broadway and even had a Broadway theatre named after him. Things are winding down but there is still one ultimate celebration in store this Friday, November 19th as Steven Reineke and the New York POPS are joined by Broadway talents Kate Baldwin, Christiane Noll, Aaron Lazar and Alex Gemignani at Carnegie Hall to celebrate Mr. Sondheim's amazing body of work and distinguished career.

On Friday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Broadway stars Kate Baldwin, Aaron Lazar, and Christiane Noll join The New York Pops, under the direction of Steven Reineke to celebrate the 80th birthday of legendary Broadway composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Sondheim-whose actual birthday was on March 22-is widely acknowledged as the most innovative and influential composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history. The concert will feature performances of some of the most beloved songs and soliloquies from Sondheim's extensive career. Vocal ensemble Essential Voices USA-led by Judith Clurman-also joins The New York Pops for this special performance.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continues its Fall 2010 season with the debut engagement of Broadway star and three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara last night, October 19. In her new show, which runs through October 30, Ms. O'Hara takes a journey beyond the ingénue by mixing songs by newer songwriters like Tom Kitt and Ricky Ian Gordon with classics by Frank Loesser ('Somebody, Somewhere') Irving Berlin ('Always'). All performances, which feature a quartet led by Music Director Dan Lipton, will be at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street). On October 15, 2010 at 8:00 PM, The New York Pops launched its 28th season; a Carnegie Hall series celebrating the stylistic diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons. In this opening night program, Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke led the orchestra in 'The Music of ABBA', an electrifying concert featuring the acclaimed Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton in performances of 'Dancing Queen,' 'Mamma Mia,' 'Take a Chance on Me', and other hits by the Swedish supergroup ABBA. A bona fide pop phenomenon in their native Finland, Rajaton's singing style and presentation has proven them a prodigious talent on the world stage.

Broadway Divas is the first in this seasons POPS Series with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Featuring two spectacular Broadway leading ladies (from the hit musical WICKED) Julia Murney and Jennifer Laura Thompson are coming to Toronto to perform a medley of showstoppers that will be conducted by Steven Reineke. Carnegie Hall will host a disco attire contest for ticket holders attending The New York Pops season-opening concert, The Music of ABBA, on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. with special guest vocal group Rajaton. Participants are invited to embrace the spirit of the decade and come flaunt their finest leisure suits, bell bottoms, glitter gowns, and other 1970s attire while enjoying the performance of some of ABBA's most popular chart-topping hits including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, and Take a Chance on Me. The disco glam vintage attire contest will take place during intermission.
