Performances of the 2015 Stratford Festival Season began yesterday afternoon with the first performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Today the festival will present the first performance of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK.

Laurie Oestreicher and LLL Magic have announced two developmental lab performances of the new musical, The Next Big Thing, with book and lyrics by J. Laurence Lowenstein, music by Gerald H. Bailey (Courting), and directed by Jim Ortlieb (Broadway's recent Of Mice and Men and Guys and Dolls). The Next Big Thing is an intimate and incisive musical about one young actor's treacherous road to Hollywood stardom.

It's one of the giddy pleasures of being an actor-dress up! And there are few periods that are quite as distinctive and fun as the 18th century. My visit to the Massachusetts Historical Society was so fascinating that I had to devote two vlog posts to it! Librarian Peter Drummey and his colleague Sara Georgini know as much about the show 1776 as they do about the true history and the real John Adams. And they have great affection for the musical, pointing out some of the departures from the true story the writers took in creating a dramatically pleasing piece of theatre.
The Colorado Theatre Guild's 9th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd in Arvada, Colorado. BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Sara Jean Ford (THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) will step into the shoes of 'Smitty' in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Ford will be replacing Mary Faber, who originated the role in the revival.
Additional cast changes over a the Al Hirschfeld Theatre will also take effect on February 28 for the role of 'Rosemary Pillkington' when current star Rose Hemingway takes a leave from the production through April 29. No reason for her hiatus has been announced. Hemingway's understudy, Stephanie Rothenberg, will assume the role on her absence.
Tonight was to mark the 100th performance of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, but BroadwayWorld has confirmed that tonight's performance was cancelled. After approximately an hour's delay, Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette told the audience that the performance would not be taking place.
The 50th Anniversary production of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical comedy HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette, will get a new cast recording from Decca Broadway. The album, produced by five-time Grammy nominee Robert Sher, was recorded by the cast and orchestra on Monday, April 11 at the legendary Manhattan Center in New York City and will be released on iTunes Tuesday, May 24 and in stores on Tuesday, June 7.
