Pianist Shai Wosner, recognized for his exceptional artistry, musical integrity and creative insight, returns to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to perform in a program of Brahms's late solo and chamber works. The program opens with the Trio in A Minor for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano, Op. 114, and Sonata in D Minor for Violin and Piano, Op. 108, for which Mr. Wosner is joined by David Shifrin on clarinet, Timothy Eddy on cello, and Erin Keefe on violin. Mr. Wosner then performs two solo works, the Intermezzo in E-flat Major for Piano, Op. 117, No. 1, and Rhapsody in E-flat Major for Piano, Op. 119, No. 4. The program also includes the Quintet in B minor for Clarinet, Two Violins, Viola, and Cello, Op. 115. The performance takes place on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Alice Tully Hall.

The New York Philharmonic and the Music Academy of the West have entered into a four-year partnership that will create unique and intensive opportunities for selected Music Academy Fellows to train with New York Philharmonic musicians and Music Director Alan Gilbert in Santa Barbara and New York. Alan Gilbert, the New York Philharmonic, its Assistant Conductors, and musicians will have a presence at the Music Academy Summer Festival for training and performances each summer for four years beginning in 2014, culminating in a joint concert with the New York Philharmonic and Academy Festival Orchestra celebrating the Music Academy's 70th anniversary in 2017.

The innovative PUBLIQuartet, winner of the Concert Artists Guild Sylvia Ann Hewlett Adventurous Artist Prize and a CAG New Music/New Places Ensemble, will team up with the hip hop poetry trio, The Mighty Third Rail for an original performance at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space on Thursday evening, March 20th at 7:30 p.m. The PUBLIQuartet will begin the evening with Gyorgy Ligeti's Quartet No. 1. The Mighty Third Rail will then perform their own hip hop/spoken word improvisations based on iconic jazz standards by Duke Ellington and John Coltraine, as well as Gil Scott- Heron's 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' along with their own compositions. The concert will come full circle with a re- imagining of Ligeti's Quartet No. 1in which both ensembles will take part, featuring improvisation, electronics, beat boxing, and spoken word in a modern day telling of the Garden of Eden. The performance is part of the PUBLIQuartet's MIND|THE|GAP series, which explores the intersection between jazz, hip hop, and classical genres.

The 2013 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition culminated last night, Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013 with the announcement of three winners of the annual international CAG Competition: the Donald Sinta Quartet, an American saxophone foursome; American violinist Alexi Kenney; and Korean pianist Ko-Eun Lee. Violinist Bella Hristova's second recording for solo violin, 'Bella Unaccompanied', has been recognized with a first round GRAMMY ballot placement. Her performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's Chaconne from Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004, on the CD, is currently spotlighted as a featured video on Curtis Performs, the institute's online stage (Ms. Hristova is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music). The video was recorded live this past June 2013 at Curtis's Gould Rehearsal Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
