The World Premiere of ASTORIA: PART ONE Opens at The Armory

Peter Stark's best-selling bookASTORIA: John Jacob Astor and Thomas Jefferson's Lost Pacific Empire; A Story of Wealth, Ambition, and Survival comes to life on stage at The Armory in a world premiere production directed and adapted by Chris Coleman. Astoria: Part One is the first world premiere to debut as part of the company's new Northwest Stories series. This monumental piece of American history will be told in two parts over the course of two seasons. Astoria: Part One opens on the U.S. Bank Main Stage on January 20, with preview performances beginning January 14, and regular performances running through February 12. Select dates will be presented as part of Fertile Ground, a city-wide festival of new works held every January in Portland. Astoria: Part Two will be presented during the 2017-2018 season. 

Mint Theater Extends FASHIONS FOR MEN

Mint Theater today announced that their current acclaimed production of Fashions For Men by Ferenc Molnar featuring Mark Bedard, Joe Delafield, Shawn Fagan, Zachary Fine, Jeremy Lawrence, Rachel Napoleon, Annie Purcell, Kurt Rhoads, Michael Schantz, Maren Searle, John Seidman, Jill Tanner, John Tufts, and Gabra Zackman, would now continue through April 12th at Mint's home (311 West 43rd Street).

August Strindberg Repertory Theatre (www.strindberg.org), which was formed in 2012 to illuminate Strindberg's plays for today's American audiences, will present the English language premiere of Strindberg's 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' (1882), directed by Craig Baldwin (Associate Artistic Director of Red Bull Theater) September 13 to 29, 2013 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, where August Strindberg Rep is the resident company. 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' has been characterized as Strindberg's answer to Ibsen's 'The Doll's House.' It utilizes realism, expressionism, melodrama and dreamscape to tell the story of the rebellious Margit, whose quest to become an independent New Woman catapults her from a convent to a castle, where her husband and two lovers vie for her attention.

Taffety Punk's Bootleg version of LOVE'S LABOURS LOST promised to be a show full of action and excitement. On both counts it did not disappoint. And the best part? The show was absolutely free. Directed by Lise Bruneau, this one-night-only showing had a line waiting on standby for more than an hour before the show began. The anticipation was palpable as soon as you stepped inside the magnificent Folger Theatre.

Everyman Theatre Announces Fall Master Class Series

Everyman Theatre has announced a new series of Master Classes for the fall called "The Actor's Body." Designed for aspiring and professional actors, the series of three classes focuses on different movement techniques for the stage. The classes will take place on Monday evenings (6 PM to 9 PM) from September 10th through September 24th. Classes may be purchased individually or as the complete series.
