Strawberry Theatre Workshop Opens THIS LAND | WOODY GUTHRIE Tonight, 9/6

Following hard on the heels of a successful revival of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Strawberry Theatre Workshop continues what's being described as 'a season of agitation and propaganda' with a second company classic, This Land | Woody Guthrie, a play for actors and puppets derived from the music, drawing, and writing of folk artist Woody Guthrie. Strawshop's 2004 production of This Land was the first show in the company's history.

Indianapolis City Ballet Launches Master Class Series

Houston Ballet Announces Upcoming Touring Performances

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch announced touring plans for both the company and second company's 2012-2013 season today. Over the next year, touring engagements will take Houston Ballet from Chicago to Switzerland.

Ballet Hispanico Announces BHdos Performance, 9/2

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the preeminent Latino dance institution in the United States, announces the first performance of the Fall 2012 Season for BHdos, the company's pre-professional troupe. On September 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm, the company will perform at Central Park's Charles A. Dana Discover Center. The performance is the closing event of the Harlem Meer Performance Festival. UH Stage Management Students Taking Talents Nationwide

The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance has long produced successful acting talents. Thanks to the school's stage management program, it's also launching the careers of behind-the-scenes stars.In 2011, the school began offering a concentration in stage management for students pursuing a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in theater. Next summer, the school will graduate its first stage management BFA student, while several others recently took their talents to theater companies across the country.

The Peterborough Players presents its first children's show of the season, A Duck Called Ugly, adapted by Catherine Gray from the book The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen. Appropriate for children age four and up, this beloved story opens June 29th and runs for a total of nine performances through July 21st; all performances start at 10:30 a.m. and end at approximately 11:20 a.m.

THAÏS Kicks Off Opera Company of Middlebury's 2012-2013 Season, Now thru 6/16

Opera Company of Middlebury, which has gained a reputation for staging opera's rarely produced masterworks, brings fourteen professional singers to the area this month to present Massenet's sublime THAÏS. The piece, which includes the famous violin solo "Mediation," will be given five performances from tonight, June 8 to 16 at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater.
