Planet Ant to Present Original Plays as Part of DARK NIGHT, Begin. 4/4

Planet Ant will bring works by five local playwrights to the stage this April in Dark Night, an anthology of the best scripts from the theatre's Ant Farm series. Tickets ($10) are on sale now for performances April 4-19. A complete schedule follows this release.

Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company of Detroit presents Love is Strange, by Sean Paraventi, directed by Frannie Shepherd-Bates. The show runs from April 4-26, 2014. Tickets are $15-$18, with pay-what-you-can tickets available to all performances. Tickets may be reserved by phone at 313-408-7269 or at www.magentagiraffe.org. Love is Strange will be Magenta Giraffe's sixth production in residence at the Abreact Performance Space (1301 W. Lafayette, #113, Detroit, MI 48226). As the space is very intimate, reservations are strongly suggested.

As part of its mission 'to reestablish and expand Detroit's theatre community,' Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company has chosen plays by Michigan natives and current Michigan residents to stage as part of a festival to take place this weekend, March 21, 22, and 23, 2014, at the Abreact Performance Space (1301 W. Lafayette, #1301, Detroit, MI 48226).

Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company of Detroit has announced its sixth season of productions and projects, in residence at the Abreact Performance Space in Detroit. Following its popular and critically acclaimed past five seasons, the company is finding new ways to enhance and enrich the community through theatre. This season Magenta Giraffe offers new work from three local playwrights: one adaptation of a classic and two original scripts, both of which were first seen by audiences at the company's recent staged reading festival. Magenta Giraffe also welcomes new and familiar faces to its staff and board of directors.
'SPELLING BEE,' 'LOVE, LOSS' & More Set for Muses Theatre's Third Season

The season opens with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Music and Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin), a hilarious musical comedy about six young people in the throes of puberty participating in a spelling bee, overseen by adults who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. Performances September 27 - October 20.
