New York University's Tisch New Theatre is proud to present HAIRSPRAY, with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Set in 1962 Baltimore, the musical tells the story of plump teenager Tracy Turnblad, whose life dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she launches an ambitious campaign to integrate the show. HAIRSPRAY focuses on civil rights, the beauty of diversity and individuality, and acts as a beacon of hope and inclusiveness in the theatre world and beyond.

Iconic performer, writer, singer and activist Mx Justin Vivian Bond will continue the yearlong celebration of v's prolific and trailblazing career at Joe's Pub at The Public in 2016. Mx Bond will perform two shows from v's repertoire - LOVE IS CRAZY! for some pure Valentine's Day fun, Sunday-Tuesday, February 14-16 at 9:00PM, and MX AMERICA, v's singular take on the beauty pageant, Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13 at 9:00PM.
According to Variety, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is currently playing in the West End, will get a new director for it's Broadway run- which is aiming for the 2016-17 season. Sam Mendes will no longer helm the incoming musical due to scheduling conflicts, and rumor has it that Jack O'Brien (who has previously worked with composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman in HAIRSPRAY) will fill his place.
Mendes will remain as a show producer and will reportedly be a part of the selection for his replacement.
