BWW Interview: Santiago Sosa Talks Nashville Shakes' Apprentice Company

Since coming to Nashville two years ago, actor/director/teacher Santiago Sosa has found his new theater home to be 'very welcoming and warm' as he's been graciously accepted into the family of artists who make Music City their home. And now, with auditions for Nashville Shakespeare Festival's Apprentice Company on the horizon (April 28 and 29), he's anxious to himself welcome new folks into the ever-growing family of theater types who are bent on improving their skills, expanding their understanding of all things Shakespeare and adding to their own personal bags of theatrical tricks - all while establishing roots in Tennessee.

Coldplay's 'A Head Full of Dreams' Tour Breaks Mexico City Attendance Record

Coldplay's 'A Head Full of Dreams' tour, produced by Live Nation Entertainment, set a new attendance record at Mexico City's Foro Sol venue on April 17, 2016 with an attendance of 67,451. The band's previous appearances at the venue on April 15th and 16th set attendance records for consecutive nights culminating in Sunday's record breaking show.

PROMISES, PROMISES's Matthew Steffens Will Star in R.Evolución Latina's BOUNTIFUL: A TEACHER'S JOURNEY

Matthew Steffens is one of the nine uniquely brilliant choreographers of BOUNTIFUL: A Teacher's Journey, R.Evolucion Latina's 2016 Choreographers Festival. He has served as the associate choreographer for the Broadway production of Doctor Zhivago and of the Off-Broadway immersive hit Queen of the Night. Matthew has performed on Broadway in Promises, Promises and Women on the Verge of A Nervous Breakdown and now he is starring in R.Evolucion Latina's (RL) new production. 

17th Havana Film Festival NY Announces Havana Star Prize Winners at Packed Closing Night Ceremony

The 17th Havana Film Festival NY announced the Havana Star Prize Winners during a packed Closing Night Ceremony at the New York Directors Guild Theatre in Manhattan. Magallanes by Salvador del Solar (Peru-Colombia) won the Havana Star Prize for Best Feature. Best Director went to Argentinean helmer Santiago Mittre for Paulina. Best Screenplay went to Pavel Giroud, Alejandro Bruges and Pierre Edelman for El Acompañante (The Companion), Best Actor to Chilean Luis Gnecco for The Karadima Church, and Best Actress to the Argentinean Dolores Fonzi for Paulina. La Prenda (The Pawn) by Jean-Cosme Delaloye won the Havana Star Prize for Best Documentary. Special Jury Mentions went to feature film Mi Amiga del Parque (Mi Friend from the Park) by Argentinean director, actor Ana Katz, and Colombian documentary Paciente (Patient) by Jorge Caballero. The jury included Txemi Parra, Zita Morriña, Mario Santos, and Kevin Moore in the Fiction categories; and Alex Lora, Kevin Canfield and Carmen Alarcon for Documentaries.

4@15: Four New 15 Minute Musicals at The Royal Family Arts Centre Set for This Weekend

Annual 'Playwrights for a Cause', Benefitting New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, to Be Held in July

The annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit will be Sunday, July 24th at 7:30 pm at the Atlantic Theatre (Linda Gross Theater), 336 West 20th Street, NYC 10011. The special performance will include six original plays. Native Detroiter and Internationally Awarded Playwright, Actress and Television Writer Dominique Morisseau is returning home with Blair Underwood, Andre Holland and Ruben Santiago-Hudson for a public of event around her cycle of Detroit plays, entitled 'The Detroit Project'. The first acclaimed play in the cycle, DETROIT '67, about the 1967 uprising, is premiering in Detroit May 13-June 5th with the Detroit Public Theatre at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center.
