The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company will kick off its 22nd year with its first staging of 'The Two Noble Kinsmen' under the direction of a newcomer to the festival who has nearly 40 years of experience.

Amigos del REP is a theatre advocacy council of community members and artists who promote Hispanic/Latino/Chicano theatre at San Diego REP. The Latinx New Play Festival is a celebration of engaging, dynamic and enlightening new plays by Latinx playwrights from across the United States. Submissions were accepted from Latinx playwrights representing an array of genres, styles and experiences highlighted by both emerging and veteran playwrights.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2018/19 season with Native Gardens, a cutting-edge suburban comedy from America's hottest new playwright and National Latino Playwriting Award winner, Karen Zacarias. When an up-and-coming Latino couple purchases a home in a sought-after neighborhood beside the prize-winning garden of a prominent Washington D.C. family, conflicts over fences and flora spiral into an uproarious clash of cultures, exposing both couples' notions of race, taste, class, and privilege. For the second consecutive year, The Old Globe will participate in the George Stevens Senior Center's annual Juneteenth Celebration by presenting an original play developed in the coLAB workshop: Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley: From Slavery to Modiste. Written by local community member and new playwright Claudia Thompson, it will be directed by the award-winning Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Skeleton Crew at the Globe last spring).
Sound Theatre Company continues their 2018 season The Human Family: Towards a Radical Inclusion with a groundbreaking play reading series. ILLUMINATE: Six Plays by Deaf and Disabled Playwrights invites Seattle area audiences and artists to experience diverse and authentic representation in these six imaginative and unique plays. The readings are free and open to the public, and will be presented July 12 - 22 at the Center Theatre Black Box. Each play will have at least one ASL interpreted performance.
The Globe is happy to announce that the Globe for All Tour will continue to bring shows to the community in 2018, with support provided by Theatre Forward's Advancing Strong Theatre grant program. Following the Globe engagement of Karen Zacarias's hilarious comedy directed by Edward Torres, Native Gardens will travel June 28 through July 1 to four of our community partner venues for free performances in South Bay, Lemon Grove, Otay Mesa, and Oceanside. Following an extensive search, State Theatre New Jersey Board Chairman Scott Fergang announced today the appointment of Sarah Bartlo-Chaplin a 22-year veteran of arts administration and leadership, as the seventh President and Chief Executive Officer of State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick, NJ. Bartlo-Chaplin comes to the State Theatre from The National Theatre Corporation in Washington, DC, where she served for three-and-a-half years as the Executive Director. Bartlo-Chaplin will assume her duties on August 6, 2018.
