The New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) production of Othello, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home) and starring Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo, has instituted a cancellation line for the sold-out show, along with the previously announced lottery and benefit performance.
Audiences have just over a month left to experience David Bowie and Enda Walsh's LAZARUS. The final performance of the production's strictly limited 13-week run will be held on Sunday 22 January 2017 at King's Cross Theatre, the brand new 900-seater venue built specifically for the production.

She takes over the role from Jessica Hecht whose final performance was on Sunday, November 20th.

Ars Nova announces Nova Ball Remix, the non-profit's winter gala, which will take place on Monday, December 5 at Capitale (130 Bowery). Nova Ball Remix will celebrate Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 and the Broadway debuts of its writer and composer Dave Malloy, director Rachel Chavkin and originating producer Ars Nova. The evening features performances by Josh Groban, Denee Benton & the Broadway cast of The Great Comet, Heather Christian, Joe Iconis & Family, Anais Mitchel, Sky Pony, and more.
I was book shopping a while back and stumbled across the graphic novel FUN HOME by Alison Bechdel. I sat down and read through it, appreciating Bechdel's artistic style, but also thoroughly engaged in the glimpses into her life that filled the pages. The musical version (music by Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron) definitely captures the essence of Bechdel's work, and that's really important when something is adapted for the stage. The current touring production of this show is playing at the Fox Theatre and I highly recommend this 2015 Tony Award winner.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) will present the world premiere of "Our Great Tchaikovsky," a new play with music featuring the compositions of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with a book and performance by Hershey Felder.Directed by longtime collaborator Trevor Hay ("Hershey Felder as Irving Berling"), and produced by long-time collaborators Samantha F. Voxakis, Karen Racanelli and Erik Carstensen, Felder's newest work takes on Russia's most celebrated, and perhaps most mysterious, composer. Berkeley Rep today announced that single tickets for the world premiere of the new musical Monsoon Wedding will go on sale to the general public on Monday, November 14. Monsoon Wedding will have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep's Roda Theatre next spring. Previews begin Friday, May 5, 2017 and the show runs through Sunday, June 25, 2017. Press night for Monsoon Weddingwill be Friday, May 19, 2017.

FUN HOME is a great title for a musical. It conjures lightness, joy, whimsy … fun. There is some of that in the Tony Award-winning show, now enjoying its first national tour that includes a two-week stint at Chicago's Oriental Theatre. But for the most part, FUN HOME is dark.
The National Tour of Fun Home, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical, opens its Chicago engagement at the Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph) tonight, Thursday, November 3, for a limited two-week run through November 13, 2016.
