American video and multimedia artist Ryan Trecartin will present his first major Australian exhibition at the NGV this May. From his work being a highlight of the 2013 Venice Biennale, to co-curating New York's New Museum Triennial this year to great acclaim, Trecartin is seen as a major artistic figure of the post-internet age. An immersive theatrette resembling an uber-real teenage lounge room will be created where guests will be enveloped into Trecartin's world through a rolling display of his frenetically paced films.

Over the course of a single day, seven teams, each comprised of a foremost artist and a leading technologist, are challenged to develop a new idea, concept, or prototype to premiere at the conference. Now in its fifth year, the conference will take place at the New Museum in New York today, May 3, 2014, from 12 p.m.-6 p.m.

Sundance Institute announced today the films and installations to be featured in the 2014 edition of New Frontier at the Sundance Film Festival, including the U.S. premiere of The Source (evolving) by renowned artist Doug Aitken and a 3D projection-mapping project by Klip Collective. The Festival takes place January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
Lisa Phillips, Toby Devan Lewis Director of the New Museum, announced today that the institution is launching an incubator for art, technology, and design that will be a first for the museum field. Opening in summer 2014 in the Museum's adjacent building at 231 Bowery, this new not-for-profit initiative will create a hybrid educational and professional workspace—a dynamic 24/7 center where more than sixty start-up and creative entrepreneurs will form a vibrant interdisciplinary community geared toward collaboration and innovation. Amplifying the New Museum's mission to explore new art and new ideas, the incubator was conceived by Phillips and the Museum's Deputy Director Karen Wong, and is the latest in a series of programs developed by the institution to challenge the boundaries and expand the relevance of museum practice in the twenty-first century.

Ryan Trecartin's 3,000 square foot installation in the 55th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition will coincide with a major installation of Ryan Trecartin, Fitch/Trecartin as well as works by Fitch/Trecartin in 'Prima Materia' at the François Pinault Foundation at the Punta della Dogana.
