The Sound of Music is coming to Stoke-on-Trent for a three week run in February 2011, as The Regent Theatre's flagship show in its newly unveiled Autumn/Winter season for 2010/2011.
When the ladies of Rylstone Women's Institute came up with the idea of stripping off for a charity calendar back in 1998 they had no idea they would spark a global phenomenon. Now, just over ten years on, they have filled more column inches than they can count, been the subject of a smash hit movie and the record breaking stage production which is currently touring the UK after a triumphant run in London's West End.
"CALENDAR GIRLS" now becomes the most successful play ever to tour the United Kingdom, a record previously held by Nigel Havers in the acclaimed production of Daphne du Mauriers's "Rebecca".
Anne Charleston, best-known for her role as ‘Madge' in 'Neighbours', rejoins the cast of 'CALENDAR GIRLS' in the role of ‘Jessie - Miss January' after receiving critical acclaim in the role earlier this year. The current cast, which includes Elaine C Smith, Denise Black, Jennifer Ellison, Julia Hills, Rachel Lumberg and Ruth Madoc, are happy to welcome Anne back to the 'CALENDAR GIRLS' fold.
Television star Michelle Collins, best-known as 'Cindy Beale' in "EastEnders" as well as the BBC television series "Two Thousand Acres of Sky" and "Sunburn", will join the fourth tour cast of "CALENDAR GIRLS" as 'Cora - Miss July', replacing Bernie Nolan, who has had to withdraw from the production due to health reasons.
