Washington National Opera (WNO) presents An Evening with Stephen Costello and Ailyn Pe?rez, featuring the celebrated husband-and-wife stars of last season's production of The Elixir of Love, tonight, September 10, 2014 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Accompanied on piano by Danielle Orlando, Costello and Pe?rez will perform songs, arias, and duets from popular works by Verdi, Puccini, Hahn, Tosti, Falla, Heggie, and more.

PORTLAND, OR - SMART (Start Making A Reader Today), the statewide early literacy nonprofit organization, was named the recipient of the 2014 Library of Congress Literacy Award in the American Prize Category. SMART was selected from hundreds of applications from organizations throughout the nation. The award is a major honor for the pioneering nonprofit that, over the past 22 years, has engaged more than 113,000 community volunteers to help 170,000 at-risk students build their reading skills and self-confidence to discover a lifelong love of reading.
Matthew James Thomas, who originated the role of Pippin in the current 2013 Tony Award winning revival, will perform the title role when the show launches its tour in Denver, and he will also play the role in the entire run in San Francisco at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre (September 23 through October 19, 2014) and in Los Angeles at Hollywood Pantages (October 21 through November 9, 2014). Kyle Selig will be taking a medical leave of absence for vocal rest from the Pippin tour. It remains unknown whether Thomas will continue throughout the rest of the tour.

Kyle Selig stars as Pippin in the new national touring production of PIPPIN that launches in Denver on Sept. 6. Kyle sent his selfie video series, JOIN US: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PIPPIN that The Denver Center for the Performing Arts put together into a vlog to show fans a fun day in the life of Kyle and his show. In this video, he meets up with castmates (including Leading Player Sasha Allen), jugglers and even some comic sleight of video hand. Get a first look into rehearsals. Enjoy the view.
Artlightenment, now in its 6th consecutive year, has recently announced its seminar schedule. The seminars have been an integral part of the festival since its inception, where successful artists pass on their knowledge to others.
Robyn Morshead is founder of the annual art show. An artist and filmmaker herself, she gears the event toward the advancement of every artist and filmmaker who participates or attends.
The seminars will open on Thursday, Nov 13 at 5:30pm with Christy Lee Rogers discussing 'My Underwater Photography,' which will be shortly followed by Carla Christina Contreras on 'My Secrets to Acting Success' at 6:30pm.
Thursday will also be the opening to the film festival, with short films being shown from 7-9:30pm.
Friday, Nov 14 at 7pm, celebrity photographer Raeanne Rubenstein will discuss the theme of the 2014 Artlightenment festival, 'The Funny Side of Art and Film,' before commencing another round of the film festival from 7:30-10pm that night.
Saturday, Nov 15, the Artlightenment Art show officially opens at 1pm, and is open to the public. At 4pm, Annie Kananak will deliver a seminar on 'From Screenplay to the Big Screen,' before the 6pm artists reception where guests will be able to 'meet and greet' the artists of the festival. 7:30pm will begin the Artlightenment Awards presentations where the Best of Show will be awarded, among others. To conclude the festival, at 8:30pm, there will be a fashion show with designs by Monarch Clothing.
The festival will take place this year on November 13 - 15 at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville, 1130 8th Ave S, and all are welcome. Prospective participants may submit their film or artwork online at artlightenment.com or contact Robyn Morshead at robynmorshead@gmail.com.

Black Lab Theatre's shines an endearing and humorous light on family dysfunction with two regional premiere comedies about the difficulties of familial love in the 21st century. The season opens in January 2015 with Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still and then follows with Joshua Harmon's no-holds-barred comedy Bad Jews to be co-produced by Stages Repertory Theatre and the Jewish Community Center of Houston.
