John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey Present New Shows At Bay Area Cabaret

Bay Area Cabaret welcomes back world-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli and singer Jessica Molaskey, a duo Time Magazine calls the "Astaire-Rodgers of the cabaret world." Bay Area Cabaret audiences will have the chance to see, or choose between, two varied programs:  The first, at 3:30 is a centennial tribute to Nat King Cole, a Venetian Room regular, whose work is celebrated on Mr. Pizzarelli's upcoming CD, Centenially Yours. The second show, American Stories, at 7:30, is a duo show by John and his talented wife Jessica that debuted at Cafe Carlyle and features an eclectic mix of music by George and Ira Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Paul Simon, Stephen Sondheim, Stevie Nicks and the couple's signature mashups and medleys. Aligned both in their love of the American Songbook and their desire to expand and present it to new audiences, Bay Area Cabaret and John Pizzarelli and his wife Jessica enjoy a partnership that reaches back well over a decade.

David Berger Jazz Orchestra and Ron Sunshine Celebrate The Great American Songbook at Birdland

Composer, arranger, and conductor, David Berger, is recognized internationally as a leading authority on the music of Duke Ellington and the Swing Era. Conductor and arranger for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra from its inception in 1988 through 1994, Berger has transcribed more than 750 full scores of classic recordings, including more than 500 works by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Several of these transcriptions in addition to a number of original arrangements are featured in last season's Broadway hit, After Midnight.

John Pizzarelli Honors Nat King Cole At 100 With FOR CENTENNIAL REASONS

Jim Caruso And Billy Stritch Return To Birdland Theater Sundays In February

Birdland mainstays Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Birdland Theater with 'The Sunday Set,' an evening of swinging standards Sundays, February 3, 10 and 17, with shows at 7:30pm. Bassist Steve Doyle will join the duo. Caruso and Stritch, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. The duo has also received critical acclaim during their seven years at Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel, and made international news when rock legend Bono joined them in an impromptu performance.
