For many San Diegans, their ability to understand and appreciate the wonders of the Bard during our Summer Shakespeare Festival has increased exponentially since they joined us for Thinking Shakespeare Live!, a 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare led by the Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and assisted by three professional classical actors.

Broadnax III ('The Hip Hop Project'; 'American Taboo'); Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet running August 11 - 18 and directed by Dawn Monique Williams ('Merry Wives of Windsor' at Oregon Shakespeare Festival); and three Signature Staged Readings of new work.

The 29th Street Playwrights Collective has announced full casting of the Shakespeare-inspired LADY CAPULET, a prequel to Romeo and Juliet, which will be presented as a staged reading as part of their New Works Series on Monday, May 1, at 7pm, at the Bernie Wohl Center.

The Joffrey Ballet is back on the boards in NYC for the first time since the company decamped to Chicago in 1995. At Lincoln Center's Koch Theater from March 29th to April 2nd 2017, the troupe founded by Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino in 1956 and now under the artistic direction of Ashley Wheater offers a new version of “Romeo & Juliet” choreographed by Krzysztof Pastor, as well as a one-evening Gala on March 31st.

The Public Theater announced today that three final performances have been added to the critically acclaimed New York premiere of Latin History for Morons, created and performed by John Leguizamo. Directed by Tony Taccone, this fiercely funny, satirical one-man show was inspired by Leguizamo's observation that Latinos are essentially invisible in the standard American history curriculum.

Moya Productions and the Old Red Lion Theatre, have announced the world premiere production of Mark Weinman's Dyl. Artistic Director of the Old Red Lion, Clive Judd, directs and the production will open on the 9 May and run until 3 June.

Royal Family Production (RFP) will present a benefit workshop presentation of the new musical Brass Heart by RFP associate artistic director Jessica Wu. The musical will be directed by Chris Henry with choreography by Lorna Ventura and will take place on Sunday, April 2nd with a special pre-show cocktail reception ($250, reception begins at 5pm) and Monday, April 3rdat 12:30pm. Following an incredibly successful 2016 run at The Watermill Theatre, Paul Hart's Romeo + Juliet will be performed in repertoire alongside a brand new production of Twelfth Night.  This exciting national tour celebrates the theatre's 50th anniversary. 

Artistic and Executive Director, Paul Hart today announces the company for his new production of Twelfth Night continuing The Watermill Theatre's bold, ensemble driven approach to Shakespeare. Twelfth Night runs from 6 April to 6 May and in repertoire with Hart's 2016 production of Romeo + Juliet from 18 to 22 July. Both productions will tour nationally from Tuesday 16 May to Thursday 3 August

Koch Theater fromMarch 29 - April 2, with a special gala performance benefiting The Joyce Theater on March 30featuring a mix-billed program including the New York premieres of Yuri Possokhov's Bells andMyles Thatcher's Body of Your Dreams.

Previews for the New York premiere of Latin History for Morons begin tonight, February 24, at The Public Theater.

New York City Ballet announced today the promotion of eight of the Company's dancers. Soloist Russell Janzen has been promoted to the rank of principal dancer, and corps de ballet members Sara Adams, Harrison Ball, Emilie Gerrity, Joseph Gordon, Unity Phelan, Troy Schumacher, and Indiana Woodward have been promoted to Soloist.

 The Fools & Kings Project is pleased to announce its two mainstage outdoor productions for its fourth season. First up in May 2017 will be Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Kenny Wade Marshall. Marshall previously directed the company's 2016 production of The Comedy of Errors. Ian Heitzman (Fools & King's Romeo & Juliet) will return as Fight Director.
