The coming season marks the tenth anniversary of Anna Netrebko's debut with the Metropolitan Opera, host to many of her greatest triumphs during the past decade.

The Met's popular free Summer HD Festival returns for the third year beginning on Saturday, August 27 in Lincoln Center Plaza with Donizetti's Don Pasquale starring Anna Netrebko, conducted by Maestro James Levine.

Due to weather reports that predict hurricane-force winds and rain for New York City this weekend, the Metropolitan Opera has cancelled the first two Summer HD Festival outdoor screenings on Lincoln Center Plaza, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Although Angela Gheorghiu was set to star in the production, she withdrew due to what her management calls 'artistic reasons' - in this version of the classic, the setting will be modern, taking place in the 20th century as opposed to the usual staging of the 16th century. This shift is being cited as Gheorghiu's reason for leaving the production.

Fleming had previously triumphed at the opera house in other lesser-known operas (Il Pirata, Thaïs, Rodelinda and others) and so it was with great acclaim that the Met staged this bel canto rarity specifically for the soprano. The May 1, 2010 performance was broadcast as part of the Met's Live in HD series and it is now brought to DVD by Decca - available February 15, 2011.

Hei-Kyung Hong will sing the role of Micaëla in Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera on January 5, 8, and 13, 2011, replacing Genia Kühmeier, who is ill.

On Monday, January 10th, Sondra Radvanovsky made her Metropolitan Opera role debut as the passionate title character of Puccini's Tosca on January 10.
