The smash hit West End musical 'CHICAGO' is extending its booking period by five months until 30 July 2009. Suzanne Shaw, winner of the recent ITV television series 'Dancing on Ice', will return to the West End stage to star as 'Roxie Hart' in 'CHICAGO' at the Cambridge Theatre on Monday 2 June. Alongside her, Anna Jane Casey will star as 'Velma Kelly', Terence Maynard as 'Billy Flynn', Victor McGuire as 'Amos Hart' and Sue Kelvin as 'Mama Morton'. The London production of 'CHICAGO' has just celebrated its tenth anniversary with a Charity Gala Performance, which took place on Wednesday 5 December. The smash hit West End musical 'CHICAGO' transferred from the Adelphi Theatre to the Cambridge Theatre in April 2006. The Cambridge Theatre was the London home of 'CHICAGO', when the first production of the show opened there on 10 April 1979, running for 603 performances. 'CHICAGO' became the longest running production ever to play at the Adelphi Theatre on 17 October 2005, replacing the previous record holder 'Me and My Girl', which had run for 3,303 performances. 'CHICAGO' opened at the Adelphi Theatre on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. 'CHICAGO' won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for 'Outstanding Musical Production' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for 'Best Musical'. Currently playing in New York, with forthcoming productions planned in Japan, Australia and South Africa, Korea, Denmark and a US National Tour, 'CHICAGO' is produced in London by the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler. 'CHICAGO', which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Ian Townsend. 'CHICAGO' is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie. The West End production of 'CHICAGO' is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team. Grammy Award and Emmy Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee Harry Connick, Jr. will return to Broadway in Spring 2009 in Nice Work If You Can Get It, a new musical comedy with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, and book by Joe DiPietro ( I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, All Shook Up). The 92nd Street Y has named Deborah Grace Winer, journalist, playwright and author of several books on the topic of American song, Series Artistic Director of the Y's long-running American Songbook series Lyrics & Lyricists.

Plans are underway for the first Japanese-language production of Kander and Ebb's Tony Award-winning Broadway musical phenomenon Chicago. The production is set to debut this October at the Akasaka ACT Theatre in Tokyo, followed by an engagement at the Umeda Art Theatre in Osaka in November.

The 92nd Street Y continues the 2008 season of its legendary American Songbook series, 'Lyrics & Lyricists, with Life is a Cabaret: A Tribute to Fred Ebb.' In over 700 songs written in the course of a 50-year career, Fred Ebb's lyrics epitomize the wit and sophistication of Broadway. From 1964 when they met, until his death in 2004, Ebb collaborated with composer John Kander to create the scores for Cabaret, Happy Time, Zorba, Chicago, Woman of the Year, The Rink, and Kiss of the Spider Woman, among others. They also collaborated on Curtains, which was produced in 2007, after Ebb's death.

Brent Barrett, Diana Canova, Tyne Daly, and David Garrison are all set as guest artists for 'Life Is a Cabaret: A Tribute to Fred Ebb,' to be presented as part of the 92nd Street Y's Lyrics and Lyricists series running February 23-25. Rob Fisher will be the guest artistic and musical director for the evening, which will salute Ebb, the lyricist of such shows as Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba!, and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Bonnie Langford and Brenda Edwards have both extended their starring runs as 'Roxie Hart' and 'Mama Morton' in the smash hit West End musical Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre by four weeks until 24 February, and Duncan James has extended his starring run as 'Billy Flynn' by two weeks until 10 February. Amra-Faye Wright and Paul Rider will continue to play the starring roles of 'Velma Kelly' and 'Amos Hart' until 24 February.

New York City Center Encores! begins its 2008 season with the 1970 Tony Award-winning hit, Applause, starring Christine Ebersole, Kate Burton, Mario Cantone, Tom Hewitt, Michael Park, Megan Sikora, Chip Zien and Erin Davie. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with Music Direction by Rob Berman, Applause will play five performances, from February 7-10 at New York City Center
