Breakthrough Workshop Theatre, a rising San Diego-based educational theatre, announces the World Premiere of MISS M SAVES THE UNIVERSE!

Today in 2004, Thoroughly Modern Millie closed at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 903 performances. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and a book by Richard Morris and Scanlan. Based on the 1967 film of the same name, it tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. The production subsequently won six 2002 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Sutton Foster.

Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that preeminent American art scholar Morrison H. Heckscher will retire on June 30, following 13 years as Lawrence A. Fleischman Chairman of The American Wing and a distinguished curatorial career at the Museum that spanned nearly five decades. He will become Curator Emeritus of The American Wing on July 1.

The Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre Company announced its 36th season which boasts new adaptations of classics, a Broadway hit, a beloved holiday tradition, two world premieres and a telling of a night after an historic boxing championship. The season will run September 12 - April 26 with eight main stage productions.

A new adaptation of Meredith Willson's classic musical THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN will kick off the Denver Center Theatre Company's 2014/15 season, according to Producing Artistic Director Kent Thompson. Three-time Tony Award nominee Dick Scanlan combines his spirited new book with never before heard songs from the catalogue of Willson, who is also creator of the beloved The Music Man. The production will be helmed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall as director and choreographer.

Karamu, the nation's oldest African-American theatre, opened its Black History month celebration with 'CEREMONIES IN DARK OLD MEN' by Lonne Elder III. The play and its author are both noted for their strong place in the reflections of Blacks in this country.

The New York Times reports that Manhattan private school Dalton Middle School announced today that it would be moving forward with a previously cancelled production of the musical THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE with a new, revised version approved by the show's creators.

Featuring music at the edge of rock, jazz and classical modernism, this double bill of delusion and illusion, paranoia and inspiration begins tonight, May 11 and continues on May 18 and 19, 2013 at theEXPO Art Center, 4321 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA.

SMTC has announced their next production, the tap dancing musical sensation Thoroughly Modern Millie. Performances will take place at the intimate 300-seat Dorrance Auditorium on the beautiful campus at Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise Valley. Paper Mill Playhouse presents Thoroughly Modern Millie, winner of the 2002 Drama Desk and Tony Award for Best Musical. This effervescent musical romp will feature Ashley Kate Adams (Miss Dorothy Brown), Brenda Braxton (Muzzy Van Hossmere), Billy Bustamante (Bun Foo), Jeff Kready (Jimmy Smith), Burke Moses (Mr. Trevor Graydon), Lenora Nemetz (Mrs. Meers), James Seol (Ching Ho), Jessica Sheridan (Miss Flannery) and Laurie Veldheer (Millie Dillmount). Thoroughly Modern Millie will be directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Denis Jones. Thoroughly Modern Millie will run at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from tonight, April 10 through May 5, 2013. The official press opening is Sunday, April 14, at 7:00pm.
