The Lion, the gripping, highly acclaimed autobiographical solo show written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer, opened last night, February 8th, at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project (45 Bleecker Street). Directed by Sean Daniels, The Lion will play an extended engagement Off-Broadway through March 29th, following an award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and sold-out productions at the Manhattan Theatre Club and London's St. James Theatre. According to the Hollywood Reporter, producers Peter Schneider and Elisabetta di Mambro have acquired the rights to to create a stage version of Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants. Schneider told THR: 'I have loved Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants since it was first published and was captivated by its theatricality. It is so dramatic - a woman who is trapped in a relationship for all the wrong reasons meets and falls in love with a man for all the right reasons. Throw in an elephant as a matchmaker and you have the potential for a show of great imagination and emotional depth.'

Grande made her acting debut in the 2008 Broadway production, which has music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn. Fans of the chart-topping singer can hear her earliest recorded work as the songs 'Brand New You' and 'A Little More Homework' are now available together for the first time on iTunes here.
