Meg Cranston Wins Artadia's 2013 NADA Award

Artadia has announced that Meg Cranston is the winner of the 2013 Artadia NADA New York Award. In partnership with the New Art Dealer's Alliance, Meg Cranston will receive an unrestricted $4,000 cash award for her artwork entitled “Emerald City.” The award is generously funded by NADA and Artadia.

Lincoln Center to Exhibit Site-Specific Sculptures by Aaron Curry

Lincoln Center has commissioned fourteen monumental, site-specific sculptures by Los Angeles-based artist Aaron Curry, it was announced today by Reynold Levy, President of Lincoln Center. This major exhibition, Lincoln Center's second post-redevelopment free public art initiative, will be installed on Josie Robertson Plaza from October, 2013 through January, 2014.

No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia Opens at the Guggenheim on February 22

From February 22 through May 22, 2013, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York will present No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia, the inaugural exhibition of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative. The exhibition features work by 22 artists and collectives representing some of the most compelling and innovative voices in South and Southeast Asia today. Focusing on the region's shifting spectrum of creative practices, the exhibition traces networks of intellectual exchange and influence, and considers the various impacts of ethno-nationalism, colonization, and globalization on national identity. The exhibition features painting, sculpture, photography, video, works on paper, and installation, the majority of which will be on view in the United States for the first time. All works have been newly acquired for the Guggenheim's collection under the auspices of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Purchase Fund. Following its presentation in New York, No Country is expected to travel to venues in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Artist Danh Vo Wins Hugo Boss Prize 2012

The Hugo Boss Prize 2012 has been awarded to Danh Vo, announced Richard Armstrong, Director, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, and Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, Chairman and CEO, HUGO BOSS AG. Vo is the ninth artist to receive the biennial honor that was established in 1996 to recognize significant achievement in contemporary art. The prize carries an award of $100,000 and is administered by the Guggenheim Foundation. An exhibition of Vo's work will be on view at the Guggenheim Museum in spring 2013.
