The Players Theatre Company's (aka The Crighton Players) next show of the 2012-13 season is the much beloved and cherished musical The Fantasticks. Written by Harvey Schmidt (music) and Tom Jones (book and lyrics), this musical allegory about the romance between a young couple and their meddling fathers has performed to sold-out houses worldwide. With such timeless, memorable musical numbers as 'Try to Remember,' 'They Were You' and 'Soon it's Gonna Rain.'

The Hollywood Arts Council's 26th Annual Charlie Awards will take place at The Blossom Room in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel at noon today, March 29, 2012. Arts Centre Melbourne presents a one-of-a-kind exhibition celebrating the links between traditional performance and contemporary art from the Torres Strait. Performative Prints from the Torres Strait will showcase dynamic and theatrical works by Alick Tipoti, Brian Robinson and Ricardo Idagi, three prominent Torres Strait Islander artists who have found inspiration from their rich cultural heritage. Staged in Arts Centre Melbourne's Gallery 1 from today, 23 March 2013 until Sunday 23 June 2013, Performative Prints from the Torres Strait presents a new way to experience indigenous art and culture.

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, composer Elliot Goldenthal, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson will be inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23rd at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). The evening begins at 6:30 with a cocktail reception featuring interactive art by past and current NYFA grantees, followed by dinner and remarks from all the honorees. Based on the book of the same title by Jaap Polak and Ina Soep Polak, STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME, a new opera with music by Gerald Cohen and libretto by Deborah Brevoort, will have its premiere in Scarsdale and New York City, NY in late April, 2013. STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME is a love story set in two concentration camps during World War II. It is based on the true story of Jaap and Ina Polak, whom the composer has known for the last 25 years, and who just celebrated their 100th and 90th birthdays.

A special tribute concert to Stephen Sondheim, including 17 premieres of commissioned works inspired by his songs, will be taking place at "Music in the Loft" in Chicago's historic Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Avenue, Suite 801, on April 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm.
