Banff Centre's 2020 Music Programming Announced

Coinciding with autumn's first snowfall in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's full line-up of 2020 residency programs in music has been released. Under the artistic leadership of an esteemed cohort of program directors, Banff music programs will cover a range of forms and themes, with fine-tuning to a number of major programs, including Classical Music Summer Programs, the Banff International Songwriter Residency, Choral Art, and Opera in the 21st Century. The announcement was made amid a busy time on the Banff Centre campus, with the Wîchoîe Ahiya Indigenous Singer-Songwriter Intensive and the Banff Musicians in Residence program taking place this month.

12th Annual Playwrights Retreat Now Underway: Dedicated To Robert Blacker

Eight distinguished Canadian theatre artists have arrived in Stratford for the Festival's 12th annual Playwrights Retreat. Artistic Director Antoni Cimolino and Bob White, the Director of the Foerster Bernstein New Play Development Program, are delighted to welcome: Katherine Cullen, Sina Gilani, Falen Johnson, Sarena Parmar, Christine Quintana, Phoebe Tsang, Norman Yeung and Marcus Youssef.

Citadel Announces New Playwrights For The Lab

The Citadel Theatre is pleased to announce the four Edmonton playwrights participating in THE LAB for our 2018-19 Season. Reneltta Arluk, Beth Graham, Darrin Hagen, and Kenneth T. Williams will be a part of this year's LAB, led by Edmonton playwright and dramaturg David van Belle.

Hardline Productions presents Raes Calvert and Sean Harris Oliver's historical drama REDPATCH, April 12 - 16, 2017 at Studio 16. Opening on the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the moving production follows the story of a young Metis volunteer solider from the Nuu-chah-nulth nation of Vancouver Island deployed to fight in the First World War. Set in both Canada and the battlefields of France, REDPATCH traces the journey of this young solider as he endures trench warfare and discrimination as a result of his aboriginal heritage.

The Montreal English Theatre Awards (METAs) recognize and celebrate outstanding artistic work in Montreal's English Theatre. Established in 2012, the peer-juried awards exist to promote professional and emerging English theatre artists and companies, to heighten their visibility both regionally and beyond, and to elevate the level of critical discourse about theatre in Montreal amongst artists and with the community at large.
